When you allow mediocrity to ferment week after week. This is what you get. Definitely will get worse

Setting up to be an interesting off-season for sure. Hell, a loss next week could make the wheels fall off completely, winning record or not. Najee is a leader on this team and after his comments post game vs the Browns, it's clear players do not believe in what is going on.

Tomlin won't be going anywhere unless he decides to after his contract expires after the 2024 season. We'll see the offensive staff get an overhaul. New OC, QB coach, OL coach, and WR coach.

I have a better chance of landing on Mars than Tomlin does getting canned after this season.

Hope you’re right. Imagine how many posts we’re gonna have to read from DWins saying “I told ya so” if Tomlin fired. It’ll be insufferable.

Unfortunately, no. I would absolutely love to do space stuff. However, I wouldn’t trust Elon to manufacture a ham sandwich much less a complex spaceship that protects my fragile meat self as we hurtle through the unforgiving void.

Elon seems to do a. Pretty solid job of manufacturing stuff.

On a side note Tomlin will never be "fired". He'll leave when he wants. But he is definitely losing this team and quickly. I think he'll have to make some serious changes to keep things in check, but I don't think he has a side that can fire people let alone mid season

From what I have read the cybertruck is fraught with problems. The Boring Company tunnel stuff has some QC issues. It just seems he does not foster a tedium and carefulness to various ventures that would make me NOT want to be the first in line.

Fair enough. He definitely forged ahead without making sure it's good to go.

Canada will have a hard time getting a Div III job when he is done here.

Let's go back to an old thing been around.

Nobody, nobody has ever tried to hire away Mike Tomlin's coaches

It seems to me Tomlin doesn't want any assistants that might overshadow him. Lack of coaching tree also bears this out. That doesn't bode well for success with replacements.Notice how long Flores was around.

Eh bit of a stretch. I believe they(Rooney is involved) have simply struggled in finding good assistants on the offensive side of the ball for whatever reason. Munchak sure didn't overshadow Tomlin when he was here. Flores was always temporary, Teryl Austin hasn't done anything to be fired. The defense has allowed 15.8 PPG since week 5, #1 in the NFL.

We'll see what they do this off-season. They better get it right.

Re: Tomlin has lost the team

I won't believe Tomlin lost the team until I start hearing it from the Cam's, Minka's and TJ's of the team. Tomlin has his faults - and deserves criticism for a lot of things, but I doubt very much he has lost anywhere near the majority of players on this team. I would need more than drama queen wide receivers acting like children to believe that .

Whatever his faults, the vast majority of players Tomlin has coached have always expressed respect for him. The last time this talk about Tomlin losing the team was so prevalent was when AB was on his way out. After AB starting "blowing up" on other coaches somehow Tomlin didn't look quite so bad. As I said, criticize Tomlin for any number of deficiencies, but I doubt he loses the team.

I think DJ may have gotten his ticket out of town. Call him dinosaur all you want but Art will stand by Tomlin over DJ or any player for that matter, even if next year is Tomlin's last year.

I sure hope (regardless of whats to come the remainder of the season) they go outside and find their next Coordinator from a proven system ... our MO has been bringing in someone and then advancing them ... look at the last 3 OC hires all advancing from within

Is it this or is it that no coach that is worth their salt wants to come work with a guy who is going to dictate everything they do. For instance it seems that the not using the middle of the field or the long ball or really anything beyond 10 yards is an edict coming from Tomlin. If that is true then no OC worth a damn is going to want to come here and ruin their career trying to make any offensive scheme work with the restrictions and ideas Tomlin has.

    - - - Updated - - -

I was thinking last night and wondered about Tomlin. Maybe what we perceive to be loyalty to coaches and players is not loyalty and instead maybe he just doesn't handle conflict well and avoids it? That would make sense. It would also make for a really terrible head coach or manager or anyone that's supposed to be in a leadership role and has to make the tough decisions. It would actually explain a lot over the years. Why the best player for a position doesn't play, Why anyone hardly ever gets benched. Coaches are almost never fired and seems to have to come from the front office if they are.

What? It’s never a matter of liking conflict or avoiding conflict. If you honestly don’t believe Tomlin is one of the most liked people, let alone admired coaches, in the entire NFL, just take a walk around the internet, podcasts, social media, etc. The only people that have a problem with Tomlin are some Steelers fans. Even fans of rival teams respect Tomlin teams.

Re: Tomlin has lost the team

There is a tendency with fans to decide a player or coach is bad and therefore he is actually bad. Even though fans have absolutely no true knowledge of what goes on and really just running on opinion, we feel the HC should see and feel as we do or else he must be blind and stupid. Canada was bad. Everybody said so around the world. We all knew that fact. But to turn that into Tomlin is clueless, is just fans being fans. Tomlin never lost this team. He did get rid of a problem though.

I guess it all depends on how you define "losing a team." Pickens an DJ are immature and play the most diva-oriented position in the league. I watched a clip of Najee. He was hesitant and tried to choose his words carefully. That is not the sign of player who has no respect for his coach.
