They're going to score 38 with a rookie QB. That may be a blessing in disguise for the Browns. Now they can run all over us which they never seemed to dedicate their game plan to in the past. And with their defense, I doubt there's 30 points in the game. But i have to see the O/U first to see which way the bookies want us to bet. If it is set normal, like 40.5 or something, I might agree with you that somehow both teams will manage to squeeze through enough points to steal everyone's money.

They could just restructure it and convert it to a bunch of cash upfront and spread the cap hit out. Basically if the owner is willing to spend liquid cash now, they can manage the cap hit long term.

They could, that would still result in lost talent to cover it over the entirety of a rookie QBs contract therefore not being able to benefit from that rookie QB pay window. I think they are just going to have to stick with this plan and hope it works out.

There was a time when Baker Mayfield’s name was tossed around as a possible Steeler signing before Pickett was drafted. Would have been funny if that happened and Mayfield became a Steeler. Then we would have had the first and 2nd QBs with the most wins at Browns stadium
