I saw this live and Austin look flustered. Not a good look. Your best safety calling plays over your DC and Chuks calling out Canada

dysfunctional staff
Kenny Pickett is who I though he was .. Eagles didn't value him either , now he is a Stain at the Mistake by the Lake 3 teams in 4 years more of a shooting star than a superstar
Only you fine fellows could be convinced this is somehow awful.
I'll take it as a positive that in the pressure cooker of a last play scenario, a coach listened to another coach (who is likely a future coordinator) and player leader to achieve a positive result.
Honestly, it's leadership and communication demonstrated by all three.
Austin looked flustered because he was hearing 2 people talk at the same time in a stressful situation lol.
All I take from this is the smarts and leadership of Minkah, and the coaches ability/willingness to listen to player(s).
I like the result but if we were watching another team and seeing a player in the DC ear in the final play. I think we view it different

Just shows to me that Minkah is smart and wants to win. I could care less about other teams players and their coaches.

I don't want to react badly to this situation. A DC had an idea about what coverage to put out there on the final play, but Minkah stepped in and pleaded his case.
I don't see this as a negative. I see this as a trusted veteran player with great instincts and a tremendous football mind that explained why the coverage for that play needed to be as it was eventually called, and he was respected enough and trusted enough to instinctively believe what he and the other coach were explaining to him....and he went with it.
This is not a big deal to me. Now, if they are telling the DC what to run all the time, that would not be good. I just don't think that's what's going on here at all.
That's basically how I see it as well.
Just because someone had a better/different idea doesn't mean the situation was bungled.
I've been the guy making the decision and I've learned that when someone under you comes up with a better idea, you'd be a fool to not incorporate that.
Try not to overthink this. I’ve watched that several times and not bothered at all. There were players and coaches around him….all saying something. There IS a reason why Minkah was given headsets. People forget that Farrior called a lot of the defensive formations. We have a lot of young players on the back end of this defense. Minkah has been out there with them. There has been confusion with some of these guys on the back end. I feel confident that most of them well get there.
Exactly. You would be a fool not to listen to good advice because you didn't like the idea of someone under you telling you what to do. The best leader surround themselves with good people precisely so they are challenged and the best ideas are funneled to them so they can make sound decisions that are good for everyone.
If a coordinator misses on a play call, it does not automatically equal the coordinator doesn’t know what he’s doing and sucks. It’s not like the play was drawn up in the dirt on the spot. It’s called communication.
Does this mean Austin will be in the booth from now on?![]()
