    It’s Rams week!

It looks like the Rams will be without their top 2 RBs, so maybe we should be focusing on slowing Krupp and Nacua this week. Also, we need to stop Donald. I don’t know how the rest of their defense is playing, but I would imagine they are decent.

Not sure if DJ will be back, but until Crapnada is gone our offense will be poor, so we will need a big defensive effort once again. Any news on Heyward’s return? Hoping for a big day from TJ with at least 3 sacks and 1FF. Probably going to need in INT as well.

    Re: It’s Rams week!

Hopefully the Steelers put JPJ on the field a ton against the Rams. He might be the only CB on the roster that can do something against Nacua and Kupp. Atwell has some speed and route running as well. The pass rush will have to win this one for the defense, as the secondary is not well positioned to match-up to the Rams weapons. If Stafford has time, he will find the open guy.

I'm not even gonna bother with the offense. Find a way to score 20+ points. Other than that....

Dotson seems to be doing well in LA with the team and coaching change. Wish him all the best!

To counter that lack of production, we have Najee Harris, the equivalent of a practice squad back.

I was excited when they drafted Dotson. I really liked him as a player. He played well at the RG when he came in for DeCastro, then the team never gave him a shot.

They said he didn't fit this system, saying he wasn't great in zone blocking schemes and that they were really upgrading the position with his replacements. Then, after Dotson leaves, the coaches start using more of a power scheme because the OL was struggling with the zone blocking scheme. Dotson was built for more power runs. He just took some penalties playing in a system that every offensive lineman appears to be struggling with this season. They traded him away and went with guys that are more like him than different from him. They are maulers, man movers.

The entire time Dotson was here, they never put him in the best position to succeed. So far this season, they aren't putting anybody in a position to succeed. They spent money on "upgrades", but he was actually playing better than his replacements for less money, and is now becoming one of the reasons the Rams' offense is getting difficult to deal with.

Remember when the Steelers used to let good players walk, and they wouldn't do anything on their new teams? Not anymore.

Just another example of having a talented player but not putting him in a position to play great football. It seems that it is becoming a common theme in recent years.

This coaching staff doesn’t understand the concept of putting players in a position to succeed.

Mason Cole needs to be 2022 Mason Cole because this year's version isn't cutting it.

The terrible job that Pat Meyers has done with the offensive line gets lost in all the Canada noise. That guy is a totally over-rated coach who has never been part of good offense. Why he was hired and why he continues to get NFL jobs teaching a series of techniques and blocking styles that his players do not like and do not excel at is far beyond me.

Kendrick Green is becoming a decent Center/Guard instead of the trashfire he was here for the Texans.

We'll said it before and we'll say it again. You cannot get an accurate evaluation on any player on this team until Tomlin and his William & Mary boys' club is replaced. Back then you could definitively say a player was trash, because he was, but more and more we see players leave the Steelers and become better. The Coaching and the offensive system on this team is simply below the NFL line.

Pittsburgh has never won in Los Angeles. With this offense, you cannot be definitively confident going into any matchup this season. Steelers will struggle to a win, or Rams in a blowout.

The Steelers have NEVER won in Los Angeles? Is that stat just vs. the Rams or is that vs. the Raiders and Chargers too?

They are winless against the Rams in Los Angeles is what I meant. They beat them in St. Louis, though.

    Re: It’s Rams week!

am I the ONLY one who notices this reoccurring theme ....

when is the last time we had a good OC ?

when is the last time we had a truly good DC ?

when is the last time we had a Good O-Line coach? ( and how long did we complain we needed one before the last good one got here ???) so one good O-Line coach since 2007 that was here what 3 years and made a lateral move to get out

when is the last time a coach ANY coach got hired away from the steelers for a better coaching pos?

what does Mike Tomlins coaching tree look like ? who is on it anyone ???

the theme here is Tomlin wouldn't know a good football coach if he walked up and bit him in the ass ...

I am becoming more and more convinced cool shades aka Mr Cliche smooth talker has little to no substance as a football coach , once his 1st ballot HoF QB started to slide he could no longer keep his head above water....

Maybe the "He won with Cowhers team" holds some water after all ..... (I've never said that before today)
Kenny Pickett is who I though he was .. Eagles didn't value him either , now he is a Stain at the Mistake by the Lake 3 teams in 4 years more of a shooting star than a superstar

Coaching trees are dumb and overrated.

The 2013 Washington coaching staff was basically all future head coaches and coordinators. Some of the current most highly regarded dudes in the league.

They went 3-13 and every single one got fired.

They are very dumb. There’s really only two teams that have a “good coaching tree”. Packers and Niners from the 90s. How’s Bill Belichicks coaching tree look? Lotta branches…all rotted out…

    Yeah.

And you can just keep following the tree back/up and you end up with everyone being off either Noll, Shula, or Brown with some Lombardi thrown in for spice.

If I’m understanding… The Steelers are going to play somewhere they never win, with an offense that can’t score, a defense that can’t stop anyone, and coaches that have no idea how to call plays or choose personnel. And hasn’t the team plane had issues twice this season already? At least we’re coming off the bye.

    Re: It’s Rams week!

No expectations. I’m going to watch this game with zero expectations. I hope JPjr plays a lot and I hope we see him get beat some. You can’t learn as a CB if you don’t get beat sometimes. We all know Stafford and Kupp can beat you.

Aaron Donald is coming. Maybe we’ll get to see this OL get mad this week? Give little Ironhead some reps as FB this week and put him straight at AD. He won’t stop him but maybe it will slow him down just enough to get a few passes off.

The Rams backup RBs Freeman and Henderson can burn us for big yards on any down and distance. Freeman is a brute and Henderson is straight line fast. Our LBs should get a great workout tackling these 2.

I do believe the Steelers front can get to Stafford and force a mistake or 2. But they better get there fast. Stafford is a smart QB. Give him time and he just makes you pay.

I wouldn't say our defense can't stop anyone. Sometimes they can even score themselves.

That is what I was thinking too. BUT, apparently, and according to the posters, the entire thing sucks total ass. Bury for 100 years and dig us up at the end.
