Drew Allar is good…
It’s a shame Franklin wasted so many years on Sean Clifford.
Sorry for posting in an ancient thread.
But why is Allar billed as a potential NFL first rounder?
Watched bits of the OSU game and he looks awful.
And PSU seems to run a total gimmick offense.
What did I not see that happened in other PSU games to generate hype on this guy?
Penn State did not run their normal offense. James Franklin is the biggest fraud in football history. Very little of what you saw in the OSU game was what they have been doing all season.
Tyler Warren is a beast and they rarely used him.
That moving line gimmick they did against Wisconsin too. Played like 3 guys at QB. Pitched to their “passing” QB on a sweep play that no one bought.
It’s why I just can’t get in to college ball. It’s nonsense plays.
Regardless, the QB does not look like a high draft pick trapped in a bad offense. He just looks like he’s all hype because he’s tall and can throw far.
They've always done the two QB thing since Pribula has been there. Warren would wildcat type things but for the most part, a lot of the stuff they did today isn't what they run, there were a lot of new plays and players they went to in that game today.
Allar was good and he's turned into a regular college QB. I haven't seen anyone talking about him as a high draft pick. That's the first I've heard of that. He will definitely get drafted. If Trace McSorley and Sean Clifford can get drafted, Drew Allar can get drafted...lol...just not with a high pick.
Franklin blew that game and it didn't help that the officials looked like they were OSU fans.
PSU looked JV today.
Ok.
That’s why I asked. If you just google him there’s a few places using his name and first round in the same sentence. No idea if there’s any credibility behind the posts.
Thought I’d ask what folks here thought.
I figured you’d have a strong PSU take!
I watched that game yesterday. Going into it I thought PSU can run all day on OSU, and OSU will be able to throw against PSU. From what I saw, OSU looked a lot like the Steelers defense in which they gave up all the yards between the 20s but their redzone defense beat PSU.
PSU had a hard time moving the ball except when Allar would take off, and on a few passes that I thought were not only nice throws but also good to great catches.
I didn't think the officiating was one-sided at all. I felt like they got the calls correct. There were only 7 accepted penalties on both teams, and they got it right on the Howard fumble for touchback, and on the INT in the endzone for OSU.
Franklin is a good college coach. PSU was in position to win that game all day. Just my opinion, but I don't think coaching won or lost that game. In the end it was the OSU defense that decided it. I know he has an awful record vs top5, but he's playing against top5. Have to judge each game on it's own rather than as a collective.
I also didn't come away from that game thinking we really need to draft THAT player. Although that TE for PSU looks like another Mark Andrews.
I finished 13-11 and missed the playoffs. Started 0-6 and couldn't dig out of that hole.
Fire myself!
