This is a 4 years extension for 68 millions and 27 guarented...He will have 38 millions after 2 years
Well deserved. I expect another 10+sack season ahead. Can't wait to see much more he has developed his spin, and ghost rush move.
Also, big fan of seeing these deals get done before camp.

Kenny Pickett is who I though he was .. Eagles didn't value him either , now he is a Stain at the Mistake by the Lake 3 teams in 4 years more of a shooting star than a superstar
I guess I got lucky!!
Biggest thing is that this likely has a bunch of room for restructures....unless Khan is taking a totally different approach and not using long-term contracts as a salary cap space bank?
Yep, plus Highsmith's number is going to look much better in 3-4 years.
I like this signing and this contract. Health is always the concern, but I think this was the right move and the longer contract makes sense as Watt gets up there in age and they still have another bookend locked up if they choose. I like the idea of having a home-grown, quality player at a premium position locked up. He's an ascending player that has gotten better every year in the NFL. If he can learn to handle some double teams and getting chipped on the edge, it will only help his impact when Watt is out...plus Watt won't be the only guy the OL has to worry about stopping to get to the QB. Quality bookend pass rushers is a great thing to have in today's NFL.
Interestingly, those restructures look like they'll be due right around the same time that KP comes up for contract talks. I wonder if the FO is betting KP will only get better and be worth the money to keep him in his next contract and so, are planning ahead with other contracts such as this one.
Great deal !
For those i love i will sacrifice.

Steelers sign DE/OLB Alex Highsmith (4 years, $68 million): A Grade
The Steelers' pass rush took a huge hit last year when T.J. Watt missed seven games, but they were still able to generate pressure on opposing quarterbacks because of Alex Highsmith. The 26-year-old edge rusher had a breakout season with 14.5 sacks.
I'm a big fan of this contract. The name of the game in the AFC, at defensively, is generating lots of pressure because of the crazy quarterback talent in the conference. Highsmith will allow Pittsburgh to do that along with Watt. Highsmith being so young also means he has the potential to improve even more, so there's a chance this deal looks like a bargain in a couple of years.

What edge duo of ours generated the most sacks in one year? Maybe Harrison and Woodley? I didn’t bother to look it up, but I think if they stay healthy, Watt and Highsmith could certainly outperform them.
2008 Harrison and Woodley - 16 and 11.5 = 27.5
1994 Lloyd and Greene - 10 and 14 =24
2019 Watt and Dupree = 14.5 and 11.5 = 26
This team may lead the league in sacks, and not make the playoffs, again.
I was too lazy to look that up. Thanks for posting. I was trying to recall the years where 2 OLBs had similar stats. Either way, TJ will likely break 25 one year since he was robbed of the record outright. He should have had 23.5 sacks that year.

I hope the team and the individual defenders rack up a ton of sacks. But I really want it to come with a consistent and severely disruptive pressure rate.
Meaning that every time a QB drops back to pass, I want him harassed, moved off his initial spot, forced to reset his feet, or throw with dudes right in his face.
Then....maybe all these new long, rangy DBs can start making plays on some harried passes.....and KP and the fellas pick up a few extra possessions a game.....
