A bit of a shocker.
They let alot of people go.
They are way overloaded with "analysts". Some should have been retained but the others had to go

Agreed. There are some radio personalities for ESPN that are laughably bad. Actually sound like someone spoofing a sports talk show.
But, I thought McShay would take over the whole draft and mock draft bit for ESPN one day. Maybe “shocked” is too strong, very surprised by the move.
ESPN is owned by Disney who is hemorrhaging money because they can't seem to make a movie or TV show without shoe horning in the gay agenda, anti-straight white male , or the feminist agenda . People are even starting to boycott the theme parks. The new Indian Jones is on pace to lose about 300 million.
they have also just given Pat McAfee a big fat contract.
Ok.
The Todd McShay layoff specifically is more the thread focus.
Were there other names let go that surprised anyone? Cutting labor as the first act when trying to get a corporate/company budget back under control is business as usual everywhere. Not surprised to see the layoffs and other such actions, just that some of the names seemed pretty secure to me.
Some other articles on these layoffs. Yes some are controversial but that’s not the point.

Suzy Kolber and Max Kellerman are bigger surprises than anyone else there.
Steve Young was terrible, Keyshawn was terrible and McShay was just like any other talking head draftnik…nothing special.
Ten years from now, we’re going to say Limas Sweed was the most productive and most talented wide receiver in the 2008 NFL Draft class (ESPN’s resident draft wizard Todd McShay).
I liked the show with Max Kellerman and Keyshawn on my morning drive. Although Max annoyed me because he kept talking over everyone else whenever the urge hit him. They seem to have kept Freddie Coleman and Jay Williams on the morning show for now. We'll see for how much longer I guess. Sometimes a shakeup like this is a good thing.
How much is Pat McAfee ESPN contract?
PAT McAfee has responded to the backlash hit his way following his huge ESPN contract while the sports giants have laid off a long list of stars. McAfee, 36, is set to reportedly receive a five-year, $85million contract with ESPN — the same network that has axed 20 on-air talent personalities.
