Kenny Pickett is who I though he was .. Eagles didn't value him either , now he is a Stain at the Mistake by the Lake 3 teams in 4 years more of a shooting star than a superstar
It's the offseason and also half the people are sick of each other

It's the dead time of the offseason. I'm sure things will be jumping once training camp starts.
always excuses for slow times ... the thing is it wasnt all that long ago that this place was busy 12 months of the year and at draft time so busy you would make a post and have 3 responses before you took another sip of beer , now even draft time is slow ....
like it or not places like this are on borrowed time ....

Holiday weekends are usually slow. People tend to spend more time with actual other people rather than online chat rooms. Add that to nothing really going on in the NFL world right now and you get 2 days since the last post.
Or maybe.....
This isnt a new thing. Since the inception of Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc. message boards have been going out of business left and right. Unless something is easily accessible from a phone, short and to the point, its not really current with the times.
Ive been viewing the message board through Tapatalk for quite some time now and its my preferred way to do it. Its way easier than trying to navigate the website through a phone. Ill check it out on the laptop every now and again but the phone is probably 98% of my viewing and message boards arent really phone friendly
I can absolutely see what you're saying. I'm one of those dinosaurs I guess. I hate looking at things on my phone. I'm also not on those other social media apps other than FB, just not on my phone. But I can see that a message board like this would be tiresome on a phone.
This place is really the only outlet for talking Steelers for me. Mostly Titans, Saints, Cowboys, and whatever team is winning at the moment fans around here. I hope it endures. I still think the holiday weekend has a lot to do with things at this moment in time. Guess we shall see.
I've been popping in and posting. I even started a few threads. There's just not much action here lately.
My reading vision is failing and I hate typing on my phone. I still prefer using my laptop from home.
At many of the other outlets, the fans seem less informed. They are more likely to make short comments with less substance than in the longer format people like us do here at a message board using a full keyboard.
Reading posts with nothing but acronyms is beyond annoying. The abbreviated form of speaking that is becoming more prevalent each and every day is destroying true communication between individuals. It is also promoting more hostility because when so much less is said, there is so much more that can be read into comments. The more specific and knowledgeable a post is, the less room there is for misinterpretation.
It's the direction the world is going, but it's not a good direction. People seem to be more worried about just saying something rather than saying something that is thoughtful and meaningful.
Just popped over on Reddit at 12:13am central time and there were 120 people online on the r/steelers subreddit. I see way much more during the days. So this could be siphoning some of the fans. But I like the format of this message board more than Reddit.
A couple of more weeks it will pick up steam when training camp starts.
kind of the original point ... there is always an excuse of why its slow ... whereas not all that many years ago there was more traffic in the downtrodden times here than there is in the "busy times" here now ...
its a troubling trend as an old guy who gets set in his ways going to a new board , or a new format such as Reddit to talk football or more specifically Steelers football just lacks excitement ... perhaps we are just witnessing the end of an era and nothing can be done about it

I admit that I go through streaks when I’m active here. But I don’t often start a thread, and when there are less threads started I’m obviously less likely to chime in. It’s a vicious cycle.
But that said, I really appreciate this forum. There are some petty arguments once in a while, but on the whole this is a great site with some very knowledgeable fans. If the Steelers start winning early I have a feeling it’ll pick up around here.
I usually visit the "new posts" page first.
If I see a bunch of poiltical threads only with new posts, I pass and close out the forum and move on somewhere else. Not wasting my time.
I'm on tapatalk/phone and my PC so I check alot. Have alot of doctor appointments so there's a lot of time browsing on my phone.
Fansince is able to turn off the political threads so you cant see them on Tapatalk. He turned them off for me I only see them on the computer and theyre a waste of time lol. People still whining about COVID and political parties lol. There shouldnt even be a soapbox here its a Steelers site, not some political romper room theres plenty of sites for that.
I agree 100%. I have said that at every message board I have ever been on. Politics has no place at a football forum.
The worst part is so many here aren't mature enough to leave that discussion in another part of the forum. It carries over into everything.
There shouldn't be a soapbox area IMO. No politics here please.
I don't have a problem with the soapbox, actually it's really simple, if you don't want to be bothered with politics or or you don't like what's being posted there then don't click on it. Although I do agree politics should not be discussed in the football section, keep it in soapbox.
I can see their point , its easily solved even without getting rid of it but that will be up to each individual to leave the political disagreements in the soapbox and not let it bleed into the rest of the forum ... perhaps easier said than done but if we all make an effort it should at the very least improve some for those who have no interest in it

Honestly if they want no politics to be discussed on the forum, then don't even have a soapbox. Discussion from there will always spill over to the other sections, always. never fails. At least if I ran the board and didn't want political discussion I wouldn't even make a section for it.

When this fourm closes is there other message boards you guy's will go? If so will you keep your usernames from here? You guy's and gals are good people and although I didn't have astronomical post numbers I've enjoyed it here.

I took my talents to Reddit a very long time ago. Used to design/admin a board that was exponentially more mobile friendly but it was abandoned by its owners. Had a couple unfriendly run-ins with mods here so I chose not to hang around. Tapatalk sucks. Reddit sucks too but it's a lot more user/mobile friendly... until this week. Stupid Reddit changes are going to kill that too.
Most people have adapted to using content churn sites like Reddit or Twitter. Those who haven't tend to be older and don't care to read the 100th offseason drama-fest. The time between the superbowl and the draft lead-up is very dry. The time between the draft and the preseason is also on the dry side.
It also gets harder and harder to care about a game played among millionaires with the country deteriorating around us. We're at a critical juncture for this country's future and yet the driving forces in our culture are basketball and Marvel Comics. For Christ sake. "Bread and circuses" only works until you run out of bread - and then people start waking up from the circus.

I still pop in here, but I have not posted in awhile just because it is that quiet time of year prior to camp. Most of the football news is not really news at this time of year, and just a lot of pointless speculation. I'm excited for the upcoming season though.....but have great trepidation bout Matt Canada being able to significantly improve his offense.
