I’m excited to finally see the kid play. Apparently the injury didn’t affect his speed.

Austin could add something the Steelers don't have in this offense if he gets good and he's healthy....Big play with the ball in his hands!
That Joker is fast. But I would like to see him put on some Steve Smith/Darren Sproles strength to go with the speed. You do not send someone with CA3's size across the middle. Let him get in the weight room for a few offseasons and that part of his game should improve as well. Right now, I see him as 'go deep and get it'. He can do that.
he made a living across the middle in college and took big shots doing so and bounced right up (and sometimes ) bounced off and went to the house ... can he do it now at this level ? not sure why not guys in the NFL playing coverage are not bigger than those guys in the SEC
Kenny Pickett is who I though he was .. Eagles didn't value him either , now he is a Stain at the Mistake by the Lake 3 teams in 4 years more of a shooting star than a superstar
Not arguing your point, but there is a difference between catching passes across the middle 5 yards deep and passes 15 yards deep. Even more-so in the NFL. Not sure your definition of 'made a living' but although he did get some passes on shallow crosses here and there, CA3 was downfield and/or outside the numbers mostly. He has an average of 16.3 yards per reception for his college career.
All I'm saying is I would like to see him put on some mass so he can better withstand collisions and open his route tree more. I'm actually rooting for him.

I know. He did make SOME short catches and turn them into big gains. Again, most of those were outside the numbers, or 15 yards downfield. There were even a few shallow crosses. I was at most of those games in person. He was very fun to watch in college. He is still a bit small for the NFL though as is, my opinion. I would like to see him put on some weight in the weight room to make him more durable long-term. I also think adding some bulk strength will open some more routes for him in the NFL. Those in front of the LB routes for one.
maybe canada will use him as a blocker on those TE screens to gentry
Formerly known as Fire Goodell
From the look of Austin at OTAs...Austin looks like the same build as he did last season as a rookie. He's 1 hit away from never wanting to play football again. He probably looks awesome in shorts, but I'm not overly confident in what he can do with pads on. Canada is really going to have to scheme ways to get him the ball in space away from LBs and DL or CA3 is the next Dri Archer.

Tyreek is short, but he has the frame of a RB. He can take punishment. CA3 is short and built like DeSean Jackson.
Trindon Holliday was SMALLER and a return specialist where guys are running full speed at you for head on collisions so much more violent most times
Just sayin
below 10 guys who were considered mighty mouses all either RBs (who were thicker) but several WRs who were not one of these guys weighs in at 150 pounds according to Alexa another at 162 .... so we are not dealing with uncharted territory here by any means

All of those guys were a little bit thicker than CA3. You can be short and play in the league, but short and skinny is usually not a good combination.
I want CA3 to succeed just as much as the next Steelers fan...we all do, but his frame definitely gives me doubts. He also had a full season and off-season to try and put on some lbs and he looks the same as he did as a rookie. I tried to find articles saying he had put on some weight with his time off, but to my disappointment there were none.
It's not so much weight I would like to see, well it is weight too, but Strength and mass. Weight will come with that but it's the ability to absorb the impact that comes with building muscle. I'm sure CA3 is lean and nothing but muscle, I'm only meaning about 10-15 more LBs of muscle on his 160-165 current frame. I don't need him to block anybody, ever.

Run DMC is a pretty good pro comparison for CA3. My opinion.
But they dont seem to have the same running style and skillset do they? I kind of thought CA3 is a bit of a less muscular version of Tavon Austin when he came out, but similar REC type of game.
Either way, I think the young man is a playmaker that stretches the field and whether he does that from the outside or slot or jet motion run, he adds an element to the REC group that Pickens and Johnson do not. Really enthused with the skill guys on this offense and restocked O line. Gonna be a fun season again.
Holliday was 5'5 170 and had tree stumps for legs. His lower half was built like a RB.
Brandon Banks is extremely undersized, but let's not pretend like he makes any sort of impact. He's done absolutely nothing in the league. 11 rec for 35 yds in 3 seasons.
McCluster is a very good comparison in terms of frame. If we can get his production from CA3 I will be stoked. That comparison is one to keep you hopeful, because I do believe CA3 is a far superior athlete with a better skillset.
DMC had 250 career rushing attempts and 236 career receptions. he had nearly double as many receiving yards as rushing. i'd say that qualifies as a hybrid.
Hill is listed at 5’10” and 195LBs. I consider under 200 small for the NFL.
I don’t want CA3 to bulk up to 200 though, so he will always be NFL small by me. He’s so fast. I don’t think adding another 10-15 LBs in the weight room over the next couple years is going to effect him speed-wise enough to notice. But I think it will make him more durable long-term. Maybe I’m wrong and he should just stay as is. Time will tell that better.
Alexa when asked said 150 pounds and I ran with it , 170 sounded extreme from my recollection so I looked it up and got this (159 pounds) https://www.playerprofiler.com/nfl/trindon-holliday/

we will never know because he will either gain it or not gain it and can never be both at the same time for a comparison ... that said I do not disagree with your point 10-15 pounds of muscle couldnt hurt and would add to durability (on paper anyways)
