Most of these guys are either big, physical, or both. I give it a B+. Nothing exciting, but I can see where they're going with this. Khan wants a powerful and physical team.

By just pure value it's an A+ but I don't care about grades. They got great talents.
Very happy with this group…can’t grade for a few years…only thing I would’ve done differently was trade up for Brian Branch.

Kenny Pickett is who I though he was .. Eagles didn't value him either , now he is a Stain at the Mistake by the Lake 3 teams in 4 years more of a shooting star than a superstar
We covered all need positions and I'm really happy with our first 3 picks especially. I feel all will be quality starters. The TE could also be a major weapon with Freiermuth in double TE sets

I don't do draft grades on players who haven't played a down at the NFL level. That will play itself out over the next couple years. All I will say is that I feel very good about the picks they made over the last couple days.
It feels like they did very well with the limited picks they had. Got fortunate that a few players fell to them, but a really good job of navigating the board by first-year GM Khan and draft team.

But if we trade up to get Branch - we don't get Benton and Washington or Benton and Herbig. I don't know if one Branch is worth that.
I loved the draft. A+. The plus grade is for trading up to get the OT we needed and trading down to be able to get Herbig.
Cynthia Freuland said the Steelers had the best. Followed by the Texans.
You don’t get Benton. You get Branch instead. You only give up the second round and a 2024 4 or 5.
They did roll the dice a couple of times on players that fell due to injury concerns (Washington and Trice). But if it pays off, they will be absolute steals. That strategy worked well with George Pickens last year. I bet in hindsight a lot of teams would have loved to draft him in rd. 1.

Reading more about the final pick makes it make more sense to me. Backup center.
They really raised the level of their depth and rotation with their later selections.

You forgot A Witherspoon. Taken in the 5th round via trade. Makes it even that much better hey.
Uggghhhhhh. If I could, I cut Witherspoon myself. He's exactly what he has been in his previous stops. A size/speed project that can not seem to play 4 consistent quarters in a row either good or bad. Hopefully a combination of Porter and Trice eases him right out the door.

He’s not. He’s a bit taller. Couple inches, true. And .2 faster. 10 pounds heavier than most. But bench is same. Jumps are same. That’s not freakish. Not at all. His speed is nice for a TE. Above average as mentioned. His ten yard split is average also. When he gets going his straight line speed is above average. Yup. Otherwise normal. Bit heavier than most. But taller. But freakish? No.
and hands aren’t special - totally average.

Nah. He’s played well. He’s a fifth round pick. He’s played above his draft value. Contributed. Actually he’s played well. You might expect too much for a third corner.

Witherspoon isn't the third corner. He was brought in and installed as one of the top 2 CBs and he was EXACTLY what he has been everywhere else, wildly variable between "Wow! Witherspoon can hang with almost anyone. to Wow! This guy is an automatic big play for the other team!".
IF Witherspoon was the first CB off the bench due to injury....shmaybe....
But in a perfect world that is now Levi Wallace who is a better overall player. And hopefully, it is soon to be Trice or Pierre.
Witherspoon flunked out of SF. Then he flunked out of Seattle. And he is on the way to flunking out of Pittsburgh.

The Steelers, due to a multitude of factors, have hung onto mediocre players because they were strapped someplace else. It's okay to play dudes like Antwon Blake, Sean Davis and Robert Golden when you have Ryan Shazier and T.J Watt, and even then, the Offense can cover for it. They suck, but they played hard and were inexpensive.
For the first time in a long time, the Steelers have a QB on a rookie deal and can put a team together around him without worrying about cap space and politics. They completely overhauled their ILB core of duds like Bush, and in the midst of overhauling their Lines and Secondary. Two taller corners to bring some real competition at corner instead of settling for "Okay, this dude can walk and breathe at the same time. We're good at Corner."
lol. You may not like it but he most certainly was. And until dislodged he is.
