    Best left in the draft

    Dawand Jones OT OSU
I can’t believe this fall. Maybe an injury concern or something with his character but at this point you get a starting and mauling RT this late in the draft. I don’t see a possibility of him falling to #132.

    Blake Freeland OT BYU
More of a finesse LT but guy but gave up 1 sack in 888 pass blocks over the last two years. Not a need since we got Jones but surprisingly he’s still here.

    Tre’vious Hodges-Tomlinson CB TCU
He is likely a nickel CB only but the 5-8 CB only allowed 28 catches on 81 targets and a qb rating of 42.5.

    Moro Ojomo DL Texas
long armed run stopper who turned up the pass rush in 2022 with 20 hurries and 5 sacks.

    Keaton Mitchell RB Eastern Carolina
Home run player with elite speed and above average hands.

    Luke Wypler OC OSU
Surprised he and Jones are sitting here. Both imo should have been second round picks at worst. But like his teammate whoever draft him gets a starter on day 3.

    No Ringo?

I’d be happy with any one of those players but they have 29 guys going before them.

Well over two dozen picks prior. Should have been a dozen. Khan was schooled on his move back.

With JP2 I think we are decent at outside Cb. Could use a Mike Hilton type nickel though.

Lots of depth at ILB. Ivan Pace, Pappoe, Sewell, To’oto’o. Lots of depth at edge. Jose Ramirez, Herbig, Carter, Abdullah, and Isaiah Land. Outside CB still have Ringo and Rush. Though with JP2 not a big need anymore. I think the Steelers wait for a QB as Tune, Hall, DTR, O’Connell, and McKee sitting there still. Not sure if any make it that far but there’s enough left where it wouldn’t shock.

Khan has killed it in this draft , would I have selected a bit different rd 3 sure but that is based on my perception of the the roster but that isnt to say he made bad picks as he definitely took serious value off the board many had Washington as a top 40 player some as high as top 33 ...but after looking at your last bunch of posts I am convinced you just don't like the steelers and must be some sort of troll trying to pass yourself off as a Steeler fan ....carry on but you are not fooling me any longer

FYI rocket scientist he traded back so as to not go 161 selections between picks ,,,
Kenny Pickett is who I though he was .. Eagles didn't value him either , now he is a Stain at the Mistake by the Lake 3 teams in 4 years more of a shooting star than a superstar

It’s almost like you have no idea what you are talking about and just trolling at this point for reaction.

I am just excited to see what seems to be a real effort from Khan/Weidl and the personnel department to systematically improve the roster instead of just doing the status quo.

I liked Colbert, but I honestly felt a sense of stubbornness to think outside the box when it came to roster construction. Khan and Co. seem to have more of a "whatever it takes to get better" approach to building the roster. Hopefully it pans out!

Did anyone pick Nick Herbig? I sure wouldn't mind having another WU guy.

I would love an inside man if the value is there. Snap counts for our current CB's show that their is a lack of a true slot guy

I wouldn’t be surprised to see Khan dealing more so that we get some more draft picks this year.

there really isn’t a roster spot in desperate need nor a player now that’s a must have. So just a matter of getting some depth.

Getting depth is also a matter of hitting on your mid late round picks. And those are a crapshoot. Theres no substantial haul to be had in trading down with a mid 4th round pick and a pair of 7th round picks

Curious to see how the draft would’ve went had he been here. I wish guys like that would come out and say it on a radio show or something…

Mark Dominik is always good for that…

agree it’s a crapshoot. So to me - more ammo means we have more chances to hit a … crappy player? (Is that what crapshoot is supposed to mean)

Agreed. Slot/Nickel and ST players from day1. I would add Clark Phillips to those traits. Not a guy we talked about a lot on here but would fit that slot/nickel and ST savant. And Hodges-Tomlinson could be Mike Hilton 2.0.

I'm a fan of Robert Beal Jr as a developmental/backup OLB piece.

Too many WRs to list really. IF the Steelers draft a WR.

Just more names to circle for day 3.

Robert Beal, edge, Georgia (pre draft visit)
Anthony Johnson, S, Iowa state (Pro day, Teryl Austin worked him out, versatile)
Kei’Trel Clark, CB, Louisville. (natural slot CB abilities, Tony Pauline reported Steelers had interest a few weeks ago)

Re: Best left in the draft

On the Colbert versus Khan/Weidl thing.....they are constructing VERY different teams....

Colbert was trying to win a SB every season that Ben was on the roster. That pushed them into making often times very specific picks for very specific roles.

Rooney, Tomlin, and Khan will not admit it out loud....but they are in Year 2 of a rebuild. They can go in any direction they want and pick any type of player. Not tied to a play style or specific need to fill.

I am not saying that one is better or worse than the other....but it is harder to compare because Colbert and Khan are not doing the same thing.

    Best left in the draft

Canada still needs to go for this whole thing to take giant steps forward…he’s probably just rearranging pages in his four page playbook…

If somehow one of Anthony Johnson or Jason Taylor can last to the 7th round and fill that big nickel role.....this draft will have it all!

Re: Best left in the draft

Here are some fun names as we consider the late 7th rounders:

Andre Carter II OLB-- still there....just take this dude, let him hit the weight room and learn and then unleash him on an unsuspecting NFL in a year or so. Watch terror and chaos ensue.
Ford-Wheaton WR -- another give him a year to perfect his craft and get an NFL body....and watch him just run by unsuspecting DBs.
Anthony Johnson CB -- long lanky CB. Isn't as smooth as an athlete as you might like....but again....let him figure that out with NFL level coaching and you have a long limbed DB to roam around. I think this kid can be really good...
Malik Cunnigham QB -- has some fun traits in a 3rd string developmental back-up.
