Just camp competition and depth to the WR group. Drafted in the 6th round and has a total of 98 catches in his 5 years in the NFL. Lets hope he finds a role for the team.

Bingo. They need bodies.
Not all signing are impact signings. Some are just camp bodies or depth.
And it’s kinda their style to bet on a trait for their camp bodies.
Austin, Mims, and Watkins are all fast as all get out.
If one of them demonstrates he can catch and run routes…that’s a good place to be with low investment.
1 year of decent production where the bulk of those catches came from ... seems to be a common theme this off season 600-700 yards of production in 1 season of 4 and a 1 year deal ... they have 3 of them now ... 3 dogs 1 bone ???

Only a one of them will make the roster and maybe one on the practice squad. Which is fine…this is the battle for WR5. Question is: Are one of these guys taking the Gunner spot on Special Teams? I doubt it…
Mims might be sturdy enough to do it.
One of them would be wise to. It’s a path to an NFL paycheck for several more years.

I remember there was some buzz about him with the Eagles a couple years ago. It never materialized beyond some early flashes. Could be that he was buried behind two stud receivers, partly.
I think you only remember that buzz because most of his highlights came against the Steelers in preseason…
