I now wonder if they bring back 30yr old Derek Watt as FB. Connor Heyward can line up as FB and 3rd TE. Glad to have Gentry back though. He played well last year I thought.

Probably told Derek to see what offers he gets and then bring him back on a cheap vet contract. If not, like you, said Connor can line at full back. And/or I'm sure there will players in the 7th round that could fit the bill.

Figured this would happen, but they wanted to give him the breathing room ala Edmunds last year. Which is OK, if the player can go out there and get more than I'm sure the FO is all for it. But they have the numbers figured out well in advance of free agency I'm sure. Here's what we can afford, here's what we'll offer, hopefully they meet in the middle.
Either way, I'm glad it happened, the draft class is pretty bad. Plus the dude's bulked up considerably since his big blue days.
After the Post-Heath Years, its nice to have good TE's again in Freiermuth and Gentry.
