    Tomlin Confident About Ben

    Tomlin Confident About Ben

    Wednesday, October 13, 2010

Rust and fan reaction are two things Steelers coach Mike Tomlin is not fretting about when it comes to his starting quarterback.

Ben Roethlisberger makes his much-anticipated season debut Sunday against the Browns at Heinz Field. It will be the seventh-year veteran's first regular-season game since last January — and his initial one since boorish off-the-field behavior jeopardized his Steelers career and led to a four-game suspension for violating the NFL's personal conduct policy.

The way people are talking you would think Ben has been out of the game for 4 years, instead of 4 games.

Steelers up by 24 going into the 4th quarter, do you "rest" Ben or keep him playing?

Good question. I'd be inclined to rest him, as Lefty needs the reps, but Ben needs to shake the rust off too.

I'm also looking forward to seeing Ben out there again but hope that he doesn't try too hard.

Just take what the defense gives you. I'm sure even the receivers are anxious to have catchable balls thrown to them.

It kind of feels like the first 4 games were preseason and this is the opener.
