a little bit of both. In any case, winning on the road isn't easy in the NFL and they did that twice in the last 2 weeks, so there's that.

If it's sub par competition, I'm cool with that. About a month or so back we were the sub par comp. That's improvement as far as I'm concerned.

If you are a bad team that beats bad teams....that has to be seen as at least minor improvement.
The question is really not a good one to ask...I mean if a below average team beats a below average team....isn't that what is supposed to happen?
I think that too many Steelers focused sites just can not seem to get it into their heads that this is not a good team. And it won't be for another year or more. And that is fine. Part of the process. But there is no "sub-par" competition. The Steelers are sub-par also!
Patriots padded their record for two decades playing bad teams in the AFCE.
This was the same team that was blasted by multiple scores by the Bills and Eagles and looked terrible. They played the Dolphins and Bengals tougher, but lost. These Steelers are at least a year or two away from hanging with the big boys again. If Kenny continues his steady improvement, and carries over into next season, then we can start talking about this team being good. Even during this recent surge, the team has been mediocre in the second half of their games, and they continue to suck in the red zone. A better team crushes the Steelers.
But at the same time, the team has gotten much better maintaining drives on offense. The Offense was non-existent for the first half of the season.
Does it matter?
The NFL standings dont have an Asterix on what teams did you get a W against. They just care about how many "W"'s you get.
Also, we can all agree that the Steelers are not winning the SB this year, so just enjoy the wins during the rebuilding process and realize that the draft and offseason moves should continue to be a step forward in the process. Right now the Steelers finishing 3rd in the AFC North this season would be success IMO.
True but I don't know if the steelers know they have a lot of work to do before becoming a great team
But team like the titans seem to know since they fired their GM even though they are first in their division....If the steelers keep Canada and its entire offensive staff after this year, it's a big red flag......

They were also great outside of their division too
A bit of both. Earlier in the season we lost to “subpar” teams, now we are beating them. The rest of the schedule is easier (based on teams records) so our second half should be better than our first half record wise. Hell, I can honestly see us possibly winning out with some ugly wins and some luck, which would put us in the playoffs.
All that matters really is growth and figuring out the offense and firing Crapnada. If the latter doesn’t happen, we will be marginally better next season no matter how our draft and free agency goes.
The Steelers are as good as their record. The recent wins against subpar teams were luck. There are a lot of bad teams in the NFL.
All Defense!
I think it's a little of both and, they have gotten better. Like mentioned above they need to score more in the red zone and, more plays to Muuth & Pickens. Kenny is making better decisions and, I would like to see him a 3 or 4 TD game as well.
Gotta beat the bad teams before you beat the good, although with our loaded team of the last ten years we sorta had that going in reverse

I think only the eagles and the cowboys can win the SB in the NFC(they could face each other in the second round in the playoffs).....49ers would been in the list before the injury of Jimmy G
The AFC have more team...Bills,chiefs,bengals....The dolphins could surprise too
1-6 vs team over .500.....
The question in this thread has been answered.

I get the defense was bad. But this is a game lost by 2 points. With a blocked FG, two red zone turnovers, and another INT for fun.
So turn those into 9 points, Steelers win by 7?
This is a good play by Calais Campbell and a Trubisky away from being a different conversation.
The Ravens never trailed in the game and you can bet their gameplan was to play good defense and run the football, not put the game on the arm of their backup QB. They did that. They never had to rely on their QB to throw the ball and win the game, while the Steelers had to do that because they lost the battle at the line of scrimmage on both sides of the football.
So are the Steelers improving? Not really, they are limited by their below average Offensive line and their below average and aging Defensive line.
