IDK, Tim Hasselbeck sorta had a good point. Not necessarily for Jeff Saturday specifically, but bringing in someone to simply light a fire under the players without the 'risk' to his career. There are 2-3 ex-HCs on staff with the Colts and those guys, along with their assistants and gophers, are all looking for their next jobs. Saturday comes in as a Colts guy and maybe gets everybody doing their job again without any drama, expectations, long term goal, anything. Just go do your job and try to go 1-0 each week. They are a team of pro players after all.
I'll be watching this just to see what happens.
I didn’t read that into it at all. Nothing to do ‘much’ with scheming or play calling. The coaches that are already there will handle that part of it. I felt he was saying Saturday can come in and call guys out, make personnel changes, and ‘player talk’ the locker room. Like he did with Payton. Zero risk for Saturday. There will be mostly new coaches and staff next season. Saturday may be able to get guys playing football again.
Just my take away from what Hasselbeck said only.
That’s the basic plot of Ted Lasso.
And like countless other Disney sports movies
I’m not saying it can’t work. It totally might.
But if it does I’m all the way out on HC being all that important. The whole idea that like only certain guys can do it and it requires sleeping in your office and working 20 hour days would take a pretty big hit.
I’ve always suspected far more is dependent on players than coaches but if Colts are decentish through this, it’s gonna take a lot for me to think coaching isn’t more than a bit over rated.
Where I agree with Cowher, he should also make a point to say that a lot of the announcers and analysts nowadays have no business doing what they are doing as the same thing pretty much holds as it does with head coach and Saturday…
for all those who think Tomlin is so great and Saturday bottom of the barrel , makes me wonder how the Colts team led by Saturday ( and a bunch of defenders on IR ) nearly beat the Tomlin led steelers ... ( just thinking out loud don't mind me )
Kenny Pickett is who I though he was .. Eagles problem now
After 47 posts, I'm just gonna jump in and ask: who is Frank Reid?
Now former Colts head coach and also former backup QB of the Buffalo Bills in the 1990s and he was the QB with the biggest comeback in NFL history(regular season or playoffs) in a playoffs game against the Houston Oilers(down 35-3 before winning this game 41-38 in OT!)

The Colts are just falling apart.
Cardinals appear to be next.
Browns could enter a serious tailspin.
This is going to be a fun off-season!
As a result of yesterday’s embarrassment, “Saturday” football has been cancelled indefinitely.
Bill Cowher was 100% right!
