Mitch Initally Benched for Altercation with Diontae Johnson?

There is a story making the rounds today that Mitch was not originally benched because of poor play, but rather that he was pulled from the Jets game due to a confrontation with Diontae Johnson in the locker room at half-time of the Jets game. Here is a link to an article:

This story sounds somewhat suspicious to me, but if true and that is the only reason Mitch was pulled for Pickett, then I have this fear that the Tomlin may go back to Trubisky as the starter even when Pickett is cleared to play. I hope this is not the case as the team really needs to roll with Pickett for the rest of this year.

I could possibly believe DJ was frustrated said a few heated words, but I absolutely do NOT believe Mitch did something to retaliate that was serious enough to get him benched. Just doesn’t seem like his personality. If Tomlin were to be mad at someone it would more likely be DJ.

But I have a feeling that if the incident did in fact take place it wasn’t a big deal. Just momentary emotion and it’s all water under the bridge now.
