A young offense with every key guy still learning how to play at the NFL level. It is encouraging that it is a different guy and not the same mistake(s). Means that some things are getting corrected and others are cropping up, Frustrating but par for the course when almost the entire offense is on a rookie deal.

On defense, the Steelers have played an entire extra game of plays already based on the league average of 60 defensive snaps per game. This has taken a toll on the two shallowest parts of the team - DB and OLB. Browns victimized the Watt back-up brigade in the run game and the DBs looked heavy-legged in both man and zone.

Clean a few things up. Bring the defense off the field for like 8-12 plays a game by extending drives on offense. Execute some of the missing final pieces that Teegre identified and BOOM - competitive and likely winning football.

Trubisky is playing with a better, more talented team, but he isn't capable of doing what Ben could do even as a shell of his former self. Mitch is nowhere near that level.

Hey, that was an awesome play. Not only did Chuks injure someone, he turned around and belly flopped on him like it was Lucha Libre WITHOUT getting a penalty, and THEN got a penalty for something else. He was doing some real yeoman's work out there.

YOU are the only guy here that even dares to mention that Johnson dropped a well thrown ball right in his hands and Pickens makes a poor play on a pass thrown to him in the end zone.

Everybody else just approaches the topic of playmakers not making plays like Dionte and ....."just drop it."

Yeah, I mentioned in another thread that even though Ben was no longer the same QB last year, he was still good in close game in the fourth quarter and his leadership is clearly missing for this offense, since we have so many lament by receivers

Having 45 guys have to make zero mistakes so one guy can kinda sorta succeed is not a sustainable approach to football.

The Browns star WR made just as many miscues as the Steelers WRs but other players including their game manager QB succeed anyways and the Browns won.

I don’t know how anyone can watch the game yesterday and come away with the idea that if the team made 3 more catches it would all be okay.

Have the WRs make those plays. Give them 21 points out of it.

The offense would still have problems.

    This

Just look at the time of possession, the Browns dominate this game especially in the second half...the steelers were outplayed once again and they didn't lose because of 2-3 plays...Cooper had made 2 major mistakes in this game too

    True,
But the Browns have a much bigger margin of error due to their front line and running game. The Steelers do not have that margin of error. Every piece is struggling so every piece has to play lights out. That's tantamount to a systemic issue rather than a QB or RB issue. And, in this case, the systemic issue is an O line with little cohesion (limited time playing with each other) and young pieces scattered along the line, not to mention a very young WR room and limited play-calling success.

    Re: Goats vs. Clown Show.

The defense has to be given a GOAT. They were horrible last night and gave up way too many big runs against a team with a subpar QB.

And MT's first half performance bought him more time from Tomlin, but it's like Tomlin didn't see the 2nd half. The Browns clearly made half time adjustments to MT and he was BRUTAL the rest of the game. Yes the receivers dropped some balls they should have caught but maybe they were surprised that the ball was in the correct spot. Remember Cooper made similar mistakes but the Browns didn't seem to miss a beat.

MT stares down his primary and is going to get picked a lot soon or lead a receiver into a bad injury. He just is NOT good. I'll be shocked if this team is better than 2-6 at the bye.

A NFL game have around 120-130 plays in a game. This is impossible not to have mistake at some point. When Diontae drop the pass, the score were still 16-14,so it was far to be over...The 2 huge mistake of Cooper, the score were 14-13 steelers....

And for the deep pass, they need to attempts his pass in first or second down...not on 3rd down and less that 5 yards

Yeah, that frustrated me quite a bit. There were plenty of times where I thought they should have attempted a deep ball. An all-or-nothing third down attempt makes only a little sense (perhaps, we can catch them off guard since we haven't thrown deep!). But, it's a big risk and one that is most likely too big for the production value of this offense.

The Steelers have given up 33 ppg in the playoffs since Lebeau was forced out. This Steelers team is going to be like the Packers and Saints in that even if the offense scores 30+ they might still lose the game. This defense is almost identical in personnel to the one that gave up 42 to the Chiefs last season. Which QB can score enough to overcome that?

BUT…this is game manager Trubisky football. We’ve seen this before with the Bears.

50 some other guys have to play totally mistake free ball every snap. Then you need 2-3 big breaks in another phase of the game to win.

The fact that this surprises and angers folks tells me that many didn’t watch a lot of 2017-19 Chicago Bears games.
That's what kills me, without a few really spectacular catches in 3 games we woul be 0-3 and only scoring maybe 2 TDs.

Both of the team "Captains" on the offense aren't really doing anything or playing at a level that's really inspiring. The WR's body language looks like they've already lost hope. It's probably rubbing off on the defense especially going 3 and out as often as they do.

Disappointing because they seemed to have had the running game going in the first half, and the first drive of the 2nd half, although no points scored, was an actual drive. Then it was 3 and out city from there.
Definitely see some quit in the WR ranks

That’s why teams have WRs running wide open on a regular basis and why the Steelers receivers can’t get open…
