    Re: Fire Canada

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not a big Canada fan, but look what he was facing his first two seasons. Year #1 …..an aging QB, a new and bad OL, a rookie RB. How do you game plan for that. The biggest thing was trying not to get Ben killed. Year #2… still a poor OL, a rookie QB, a very talented rookie WR…..but again, how do you game plan for that? As someone said in another thread, this is the year that makes or breaks Canada. I watched the Bills preseason game again and saw a number of good plays…..so I have hope.
My biggest shock was that Ben stuck around, his last year. He broke in a number of OLinemen over the years…….but he had to say, “this is what I got “?

Crazy that Ben had Green as starting center almost for the entire season!

Very possible that Ben was washed in his last season but he had also no chance to be good with this supporting cast!

I would understand this point, if Ben had not taken over calling his own plays in the 4th of almost every game and pulled out comeback wins all that season.

The last 2 years is in the past...But if the steelers offense is not much better this year,it will be very ugly

I have a question that maybe has been asked and answered already.

Last year we were told that the play calling didn’t allow for any audibles at the LOS, except to change from run to pass and vice versa. Has Canada said anything about that changing this year now that Pickett can obviously handle it?

Just curious, …..did Ben come out and say that he was Q4 play caller, and who designed the plays?

Once again, I’m not a big fan of Canada, but I’m not going to throw him under the bus. He had some things going on in the last part of last season.

Canada stinks but the Ben calls plays thing has never been really confirmed or denied that I remember. Or at least the extent he did it is a bit murky.

I'm sure Ben claimed he called everything all by himself. But, according to him, he also played with 15 broken toes in a doubleheader....

A lot of times in those 4th quarters the Steelers were in a hurry up O, and the assumption is that the QB is calling the plays in hurry up, though I don't know how to know that for sure.

I expect several of this years crop of QBs to have way better careers than Kenny but I thinks certainly serviceable with a decent coordination

The Steelers Offense nearly went an entire half without a first down and we hit our old limit of one touchdown a game.

This is not a serious organization.

I had to do a Google search to remind myself of who the defensive coordinator is that's wasting TJ and Minka's careers.

The main difference between Purdy and Pickett right now is one coordinator is actually doing his job

I've seen enough of Canada's offense where I might get to that point midseason and if he's still not shitcanned

    Ben wasn't the problem.

    Mitch wasn't the problem.

    Kenny isn't the problem either.

    Matt Canada is the problem.

The problem with Canada is he leaves no room for error. And we have error. Plenty of it.

I know we played maybe the best defense in the NFL, but we can’t be a contender if we need Tom Brady at QB to make the scheme work. Pickett needs the kind of schematic help that Purdy has.

This coaching staff isn't capable of that. It's like square peg, round hole.

Nothing sums up the offense more than Calvin Austin III. Why did we draft him again? 4.3 Speed? Why is he running hooks?

We can’t bring a new OC in from the outside this year, and Tomlin can’t call offensive plays. Obviously.

I don’t know what offensive coaches we have that could be elevated to play calling duties, but the playbook is the playbook. We need to start getting some great O line play because you know that Canada’s conclusion about this game will be: not enough jet sweeps.
