This whole situation is hilarious. Who hasn't told someone to eat a dick?

Is it a great look? Nope. But...wouldn't keep me up at night.

Also...the Ravens offense is basically Lamar Jackson doing video game crap. They had a second and or third and long and their best idea was a screen to their massive and slow moving FB. The Ravens offense is AWFUL. Poorly designed, poorly put together in terms of players, and they would be a .500 or worse team if Lamar Jackson didn't just bail them out every week.

The fact that no one talks about how crappy their non-Lamar offense truly is comes as a weekly surprise to me.

The Ravens should pay Jackson whatever he wants as an apology for their failure to identify and obtain real NFL skill position players besides Mark Andrews - how has the the worst hands I've seen for a guy who catches a zillion passes.

When you want way too much,it can back fire big time.....Maybe he will have what he wants at the end but this is a very risky strategy by him......

    It needs to happen.

Despite the general trend of this thread, Roman seems to be far more the problem than Jackson with the Ravens offense. That and their failure to build a WR corps.

Some rumors said that Roman will be the head coach in Stanford next year

After seeing the Ravens offense without Lamar Jackson, they better just pay him whatever he wants however he wants it.

    He's their entire offense.

What are you talking about? He forgot how to play football, can't throw the ball at all, and is a handicap to the offense.

So, what has Lamar Jackson done this season to strengthen his negotiating position. 2,200 yards passing (seems to usually be good for a sub-3,000 yard season), and it looks like you can count on having your backup play 4 or 5 games a year. And the big guaranteed contract that was your benchmark turned out to be an unmitigated disaster for the team that gave it. Yeah, people will be lining up to hand him the same deal now.

In the first 11 starts,he had close to 3000 combined yards(rushing and passing)...He is their entire offense, the ravens have no offense without him

When Lamar Jackson starts, the team averages over 28 points per game.

Without him, they average 18 points per game.

I think all this has clearly shown how important he is to his team. From that perspective, and how much is on his shoulders to produce on his own....It proves that he makes that whole thing work.

Now, to be fair...Lamar Jackson and his style of play has also led to him being on the sideline the last month of the year two seasons in a row. I think that is where the Ravens' organization is coming from and speaks to your point a little bit when it comes to that much guaranteed money when he misses that much time and plays a style that puts him in more danger of injury.

The Ravens have Dobbins, Andrews, Duvernay, other serviceable weapons, AND a very good defense. Does it 'require' Lamar Jackson, or maybe just any NFL level QB? The fully guaranteed thing is just silly, IMO. Good for LJ if he gets it.

They need Jackson healthy and at his best if they want to have a chance to win the SB one day.He will be hard to replace if the ravens are not able to sign him in the next few years....pczach is 100% right on everything

They have no chance to win the Super Bowl with Jackson. He makes too many bad mistakes to win four playoff games in a row against the top teams. Also makes too many mistakes and misses too many games to get the #1 seed going forward, so it won't be three games.

Jackson may be "what makes the Ravens offense work," but what's that accomplished? A bunch of wild card and divisional round exits - what, one playoff win ever, against a shitty Titans team, and then getting completely shut down against the first good team they faced.

So what if he accounts for like 2,800 yards passing and 900 yards rushing in a season? Good QBs get more than that just passing. And now you've built your whole offense around that. You know another quarterback who ran for a lot of yards and was really exciting and got paid a lot of money, but made a lot of wild throws and bad mistakes too? Mike Vick, and he didn't win shit either.

Anyway, what do I care, it's the Ravens. Pay him the big money, go ahead and fuck up your franchise. You're not going to be adding weapons when you're paying Jackson $40 million a year or whatever bullshit number he came up with. If you were going to win anything, your window was more like last year and this year, now you blew it and it's passing you by. Go suck on that for a few seasons.

The reputation for a bad playoffs performer to a great one can change very quickly sometimes....Just look at Eli Manning as an example....He couldn't win a big regular season game or playoffs game to save his life before the playoffs in 2007 but everything have changed after that with 2007 and 2011

I also heard for 2-3 years that Joe Flacco had no chance to win a super bowl, but not only did he win one, he had a legendary playoff run....To say that Lamar has no chance, that's is just crazy....

    Re: Lamar Jackson

The level of anger and outright dismissal that Lamar Jackson and his contract generates continues to surprise me.

    https://overthecap.com/position/quarterback

No one argues that the other big names on the above list are preventing their teams from adding weapons or whatever other doom and gloom gets said about Jackson. No one blamed Mahomes and his massive contract when the Chiefs traded Hill and revamped their entire offensive approach. Everyone was like "yeah. they had to do that." and "It will make them BETTER to be more diverse".

Lamar Jackson annually drags a non-functional offense to playoff relevance while being asked to shoulder more and more of the offensive burden each season. And he has almost no help. Dobbins is emerging as a legitimate threat regardless of gameplan by the opposing defense. Andrews is a bona fide weapon. But when you start trying to argue that Duvernay is an actual receiving threat, that is where you lose me. You think Diontae Johnson is frustrating...

Plus, say that the pessimistic outlook is correct and Jackson's contract cripples the Ravens ability to "add weapons" around him...what would be different? They haven't been able to get him legitimate weapons as it is.
