No doubt this should be the case with a QB who can throw deep. I just hope he tries to work to be a top 3 as opposed to having talent of top 3. I honestly don’t know his work ethic reputation.

I realize the "I'm top 3" is a great headline, but I don't think Chase meant it literally. To me, it was plain that he was saying that he sees himself with that ability and he plans on playing up to that level. Others can interpret it how they want.

So far....the off-season stories on Claypool across various locales seem to indicate he is willing to do a heck of a lot.

For me, Claypool has a high probability of being the classic "late bloomer" because of his immense physical ability. Couple that with not the best developmental program prior to arriving in Pittsburgh.

British Columbia high school football is not known for its complex and intense approaches to readying NFL prospects.
I do not profess to know much about it all, but several reports I have read indicate that many now feel that Notre Dame was a hot mess during most of Brian Kelly's tenure.

I honestly do not think that Claypool got much of an exposure to how to be a technician and a professional about his craft until he hit Pittsburgh. And then he has been working in a funky fluky offense because of QB and OC "issues".

I really believe that he has the chance to put it all together and be really dominant.

Of course, all this is a really long-winded way of saying that I agree with why many remains skeptical and cautious in how they view Claypool. But it used to be that "third year breakout" was a thing for WRs...

I’ve never heard a second year receiver coming off a bad year and not really doing anything in his career yet saying he’s top three. I can’t recall a young AB or MB saying that (at least they had done more than Claypool has so far). But like DS said, I’ll assume he meant he ‘can be’ top three.

How do you know he’s not working his butt off? Because he’s not posting it on Tik Tok every 5 minutes? If he did that, people would be complaining that he’s spending too much time posting on Tik Tok instead of really concentrating on his workouts.

we’ll find out about his work ethic when the season starts. There are going to be so many people on a make or break bubble this year; him, DJ, bush, Rudy, green, Canada….
