I do actually get to watch a lot of Ole Miss football. I do not know much about this young man. He was not recruited by the Rebels, he walked on. Congrats to Mark Robinson!!!! SEMO to Ole Miss to Steelers Nation!!!!!
Apparently he’s good against the run but can’t cover. So he’s no insurance policy for Bush.
But he had a predraft meeting with the Steelers so apparently Tomlin likes him.
He appears to like to visit violence upon others. That’s an awesome starting point for a LB.
Okay, I'm fine with this. He'll be competing with Buddy Johnson for a roster spot.
Apparently this was a Brian Flores pick…
Yeah, I was kind of thinking the same thing. He seems like a really good pick for where he was taken. He’s still something of an unfinished product so we don’t know how good he could be at any particular thing with good coaching and hard work.
Seems like the kind of player who could do well right away on special teams so he could easily be active on game days this year.

To paraphrase G.L. on your avatar, he wasn’t drafted for his disposition. We like our linebackers violent in Pittsburgh.
Bince LOVES this pick.
Looks like a special teamer and maybe still develops as a LB, but if his arm length is correct at 29.5" he isnt going to get off many blocks inside from NFL linemen with 32-34" long arms. They will just get their hands on him and maul Robinson in the run game. The Steelers strategy is their top 3 picks become starters, so Robinson getting a hat on sundays for kick cover makes sense.
Realistically the ILB group will be Jack, Bush, Spillane, Johnson and the 5th will be Gilbert III or Robinson. The guy that has played RB in college and just converted to LB for 1 season and has short alligator arms is likely to end up on the practice squad for a season.
Just watch an OG like Kevin Dotson with 33" long arms, who also bench pressed 34 reps and is 310lbs, lock onto 230 LB linebacker with 29.5" long arms on a B-gap run.
Robinson is developmental and his best chance to make the 53 is special teams IMO and develop. Otherwise he will be on the PS for a season.
You're not wrong. I think a guy that hits like him is needed for RBs like Mixon, Chubb, and Dobbins we're going to see twice each season. Maybe that guy is Buddy Johnson, maybe it becomes Bush again. It's not UG3 or Spillane we already know. Robinson looks like he will be mostly worthless in coverages so he's already slotted to a specialist role. Those backers on backs reps in TC should be entertaining.
Got the wrong Ole Miss linebacker, Campbell was taken with the 216 I believe.
