With next year's draft projected to be better for quarterbacks, a hypothetical draft question: If Pickett, Willis or Ridder is still on the board when the Steelers draft at #20, do the Steelers take a QB?

the Steelers would draft Willis.
Yes, unless it's Willis - is what the answer should be.
Yes, but only if it's Willis and we can flush the pick straight down the toilet - is what the answer likely is.
See you Space Cowboy ...
As of today the Steelers are entering the 2022 season with Mitch Trubisky and Mason Rudolph as the complete QB roster. I feel this makes adding another QB highly likely and even more likely as a rookie draft pick. However, some teams actually enter week 1 with only 2 rostered QBs on the 53. The Steelers have not done that as far as I know though. There are 5 QBs that I could easily see being the pick at 20. Corral, Pickett, Ridder, Willis, and Howell. I think 2nd and 3rd rounds could see Carson Strong, Skylar Thompson or Jack Coan or an equivalent QB prospect being selected if not one of the 1st round guys.
To answer the question more directly, I would say yes, that is exactly what will happen.
If Willis is there, he would 100% be the pick. He is a wet-dream for Tomlin. If Tomlin could make a player, it would be Malik Willis...
I hope another team drafts Willis, hard pass on him. I have no idea why the league has such a hardon about finding the next Lamar Jackson, that guy hasn't won jack and proabably won't ever.
Sadly, yes.
why limit it to those original selections considering there are 5 potential 1st round QBs in this draft not just 3 and 1 of the ones left out has had the most interactions with our GM of all of them not including randomly running into Pickett who trains right there ....
Kenny Pickett is who I though he was .. Eagles didn't value him either , now he is a Stain at the Mistake by the Lake 3 teams in 4 years more of a shooting star than a superstar
The Panthers are taking Pickett at #6 and the Seahawks are taking Willis at #7. I've seen Riddler falling to round #2 in some mocks (with us landing him then) so I doubt they waste #20 on him especially if other players they covet are available.

Ridder shouldn't even be on the Steelers radar unless he is available in the 3rd round. Pickett is by far the best QB in the draft, Willis is absolutely terrible under pressure but is a great athlete. Ridder's playing style reminds me of DeShawn Kaiser

That doesn’t necessarily mean Pickett is best. That just means the Panthers think he’s best. Without the injury…which imo isn’t a big deal, Corral appears to be the best QB and most NFL ready QB out there. I’d be more happy if they took Corral (or Howell) over the three names in this thread.
1 week out predictions......(none will happen most likely)
1. Pickett to the Lions
2. Corral to the Saints
3. Strong to the Panthers
4. Ridder to the Falcons
5. Howell to the Steelers
6. Willis to the Seahawks
7. Coan to the 49ers
I don't know. They also have the #32 pick. I know QBs will be drafted in the 1st round. I just have to wonder why and in what order. Didn't Zach Wilson and Daniel Jones go way before they were predicted to. I think Lamar Jackson was supposed to be a 2nd round pick. Weird things happen.
ohhh so Jamarcus Russell was the best QB drafted when he came out cause he went #1 over all ...
by your logic Vince Young and Matt Leinart were better than Jay Cutler
Alex Smith therefore must have been better than Aaron Rogers ...and the same year Andrew Walter and David green better than Kyle Orton etc etc etc we could go on forever
gotcha LMAO
this also means by your logic that
Chad Pennington
Giovanni Carmazzi
Chris Redman
Tee Martin
Marc Bulger
Spergon Wynn
are all Better than Tom Brady because in 2000 those 5 QBs were drafted BEFORE Brady
as a side note that puts perspective on just how long Brady has played , it seems like an eternity ago that Pennington retired , yet Brady plays on
Kenny Pickett is who I though he was .. Eagles didn't value him either , now he is a Stain at the Mistake by the Lake 3 teams in 4 years more of a shooting star than a superstar
If you look at the players based on rankings (not position) the highest ranked overall QB is Corral at #27 according to CBS sports.
I would be fine with just taking the best player at #20 especially if a guy like Kyle Hamilton or Jordan Davis are available and just rolling with Trubisky for a year. The QB's in this draft are not that great. We are not winning the SB next year anyhow (despite Teegre's 20-0 predictions).
What I want to happen: Don't draft a QB. Go for Jordan Davis if available, and if not, Jameson Williams, Trevor Penning, Nakobe Dean, Andrew Booth, probably in that order.
What will actually happen: They will draft Willis if they can get him, or Howell if not. I will be disappointed but also be eager to be proven wrong.
Steelers won't go QB at 20 unless Willis is there. They will take an impact player on defense, or a stud WR. But Colbert will wheel and deal to trade into the 32 spot or the top of R2 and take Howell. That's a perfect scenario in my eyes.
