Taking a look at how Brian Flores’ philosophy could help the Steelers defense in 2022, and hopefully beyond.

Certainly there have been some folks who DO NOT like this hire. I gotta say, as a fan for the last 50 years, I have been very disappointed in our defense for the last few years. Not at all "Steeler Like". I am stoked to see change. Both sides of the ball. Enough of the inside hire. I believe that the players needed a change as well. My gut tells me that our D will be a much better coached group that has the talent to be amazing. My biggest concern lies at QB. Our 2022 season relies soley upon that position.

    how do you figure ?

we have the same D Line coach ....

we have and internal hire as def coordinator ...
Kenny Pickett is who I though he was .. Eagles didn't value him either , now he is a Stain at the Mistake by the Lake 3 teams in 4 years more of a shooting star than a superstar

I can't recall one poster here who has expressed dislike for the hire. Maybe there are, but I can't remember reading a single post to that end. But I keep reading how many people don't like it. Who are they? Speak up if that's you, someone.

I wanna see what he can do, especially attacking the weaknesses of opposing offenses. Something I think out offense and defense have lacked for a while.

And on the other hand I hear this is the guy called the worst possible defense ever against the Steelers one time.

Why would we oppose the hiring of a new linebackers coach? Particularly one who has shown a particular gift for coaching linebackers. And, BTW, we just happen to have at least one linebacker who is in desperate need of some coaching!

I read up on Flores as a possible DC hire after he was let go and before Austin was hired, and before the texting and lawsuit. He was supposedly abrasive and difficult to work with, so i left it alone. After the lawsuit and hearing that we hired him i was very skeptical. But he's with us now. Hopefully the lawsuit noise is minimal and he helps the defense out - as alluded to in the post above Bush needs help - needs something - maybe this is the guy to do it. Maybe Flores and Olsavsky can tag team since we now have two linebackers coaches....

If he's abrasive and hard to work with but can coach like belichick, I'll take him. It just might be what the doctor ordered for this team.

agreed, maybe the coaching staff needed a no nonsense a-hole to balance things out. Maybe that was our problem, too many good, nice guys on the Tomlin staff.

I’m confused. People are talking about the Steelers defense like they’ve sucked for decade.

Yes, this past year was one of the worst ever, but it was one year. Plus, they lost Tuitt and Alualu while also having Bince suddenly retire (and Bush regressed)… so, I’m giving them a pass.
