Some draftniks I listen to play a game where they predict the 32 starting QBs for the upcoming season on their podcast. I thought it might be interesting to read some of the thoughts from you guys as well as see if some of the predictions come true. Give reasons for the predictions or don't, up to you. These are pre-FA and draft so it makes it harder and more thought provoking.

I had the Browns trading for Cousins, thus releasing Baker and making him a FA. Plus I just put out a template to illustrate what I was talking about. Not an actual prediction. The Browns trade for example was one used on the show I listened to and i just copied them. It was a fun listen for me so I thought I would share and see if it catches on.

You made some good guesses, even if on the fly. If it was the NBA, I’d say you were spot on. Teams rarely/never relinquish a franchise QB. I’d love to see more of it. I also just can see the Browns waiving Mayfield. He has trade value.

$18,858,000 that is his dead cap hit if they release him .....

they cashed in the 5th year option on Mayfield and once you do that it is FULLY guaranteed

can't cut the guy .....

now if he has a kitchen fire in his apartment inside the stadium (I jest) and burns it down there might be some sort of out but otherwise they are on the hook for the whole shabang ...

Yup, and you go with the best QB that you have until you get another one on the roster. So they either trade him or keep him, but when he struggles they wont hesitate to put Keenum in, because as you mentioned they already have paid him. There wont be an attitude of "lets keep going with Baker, because we have to see if its worth giving him a new contract".
