    D line prospects

I dont know if the Steelers have the luxury of possibly using a 3rd round pick on a player that will solidify the middle of the D line, but here he is. There wasnt a day of practice that he wasnt just winning his battles. Kind of a Casey Hampton size and power, but quicker with the ability to rush the passer, like Hargrave.

    Travis Jones, IDL, UConn (National)

    Scouts Inc. ranking: 104
Jones was the player who impressed me most this week. His power was unmatched, and he's a well-built 329 pounds. His combination of strength and raw power helps him at the point of attack, and blockers struggled all week to cover him up cleanly. Through three days, you can count on one hand the number of reps he didn't win.

Showing off his versatility, Jones played both 0- and 1-technique tackle during the week. He grabbed the attention of teams that run different schemes, proving he can operate in any interior gap. After a standout 2021 season and with a thin interior defensive line class, Jones has earned himself a lot of money with his performances in Mobile.

Matthew Butler DE/DT, Tennessee....6'4"-295lbs. Shrine Bowl participant. Probably 3rd/4th round.

John Ridgeway NT, Arkansas....6'6"-320lbs. Senior Bowl participant. Probably 3rd/4th round.

Ridgeway looked good. Tall guy that plays a bit high but with really good leverage. Could maybe be a DE in the Steelers scheme, but didnt look really dynamic in terms of getting upfield in 1 on 1 drills, but rather just stalemated run blockers and clogged things up in team like a NT would.

Kind of Chris Hoke type game, but taller and maybe position flexible to play N or E in a 3-4.

If he is a "Hargrave" type, I'd take him in the 3rd round.

Travis Jones is probably just as good as Jordan Davis but since he's from a 'smaller school' he isn't well known. The questions with these guys is more how good can they become, and can they be this good consistently over 17 games.

    As the cliche goes…

Find someone who looks at you the way that Tomlin looked at Travis Jones.
