    Tomlin's Team. Tomlin's Players.

The very last holdover of the Cowher years is gone. This is the biggest knock on Tomlin since he was hired. He won with Cowher's players. Well, here it is. It's officially his team and his players.

The quarterback Tomlin drafted (Rudolph) is a laughingstock and getting memed on hard, and Kevin Colbert is stepping down after the draft.

The Steelers are plunging into the unknown. How does that make you feel?

Cowher drafted a few QBs before he got to Ben.

You should have seen the message boards when he passed on Drew Brees.

Cowher never wanted to draft Ben.

he was going to select Shawn Andrews instead until Rooney stepped in.

Based on past history, I expect we'll defend every blade of grass before we unleash hell, and at some point, Isaiah Green will be signed and then released the following week.

Well one thing is for sure...the QB will be a volunteer and not a hostage.

This has been Tomlin's team for a decade and a half. These players stopped being "Cowher's players" once the torch got passed. I really enjoyed the Cowher years, I truly did. We were not always in the championship conversation but we played solid fundamental football which is what is fun for me to watch. But Tomlin already rebuilt this team once. I trust him to do it again. And even better his second time.

I’m looking forward to it. Want to see if his teams will do better post Ben than Noll did post Bradshaw - Noll was in a tough position losing all his dominant players from the 70’s to retirement. And they failed to get a franchise QB.

Tomlin’s team just needs a few pieces, it’s a young team. Hopefully they have better luck finding the next guy at QB.

Nope. Jerry Olsavsky is still a coach and he was drafted by Noll so, no.

Potentially dark days for the Steelers coming with the ascension of Burrow?

Really puts 2022 into a whole new light, doesn't it?

Burrow is the real deal, but the Bengals front office still has to prove it can handle success. Plus, even if they do, it's no guarantee of any specific success. Two years ago all the talk was that the Chiefs and Mahomes were going to be so unstoppable that Brady's Superbowl title totals were in danger. Two years later and no titles and that accomplishment looks not so likely. Not saying the Chiefs are done. I suspect they will win more titles, but as the saying goes it hard to win a title. Too many things have to go right.

I wonder how many times Dan Marino has thought back to the Superbowl loss to the 49's and thought - wow how did I not get back.

100% this. I would absolutely prefer to watch a team always in contention as opposed to a team that makes erratic and unnecessary decisions chasing championships 'right now' as to how this organization is run.

Redskins go erratic and make 'all in' choices every other year for two decades and are a consistent mess.

Same with the Lions for decades.

I am happy with how this team runs. They might not always be championship contenders, but you know they are always going to try. I have watched them win two championships and play for a third, barely old enough to remember the 70's.

I am not going to ask them to do more than what they think is best.

Other thought I had - we managed to win two Superbowl's and played in another in the Brady/Pats era, not worried that the Bengals are going to block us from winning if we make the right decisions.

I dont think so. I have not seen any mention of James Harrison for GM or starting QB, because he is the bestest at everything.
