Nope, DC's dont make bad calls, which put their defenses in disadvantages, just so they can keep the opposing OC guessing.
Many DC's have opposing team's offensive tendencies broken down from game film analytics, so they have a chart of what the opposing OC likes to call at what time in the game, where on the field, and vs what personnel. So a DC could look at the Raiders and have statistical proof that they like to run a go route with their WR that has 4.3 speed, from the 40 yard line out, at the end of the 2nd or 4th quarter, down by 4 points or more.
Its just the absolute dumbest call that a DC could make, especially since the Jets were winless and you have a game won, if you just stop the next 2 plays. Rush 4, play Cover-2, zone with corners taking away the sidelines for quick out and out of bounds.
If you blitz, then a common defensive strategy is double the biggest threat. So you bracket Ruggs over top and send 5, but playing Zero coverage is just the stupidest thing you can do.
