Shakur Brown is more quicker than fast. Zeirline and DJ had him as a 4th round prospect. Could be a future nickel CB.
Out of this crop who will stick if any? Are these guys just cannon fodder?
The Steelers have invited Chase Behrndt, C, WVU to the rookie minicamp.
It fulfills two off-season requirements: 1) Tomlin always brings in a Mountaineer, and 2) we seemingly add a UFA whose name is impossible to spell.
Behrndt played all five positions during his time at WVU, with his senior season being at center. Perfect backup for multiple positions... much like Justin Strzelczyk.
I liked Behrndt as a late round option for us. He was looked at by a bunch of teams, so I was surprised when he wasn't drafted late. Not that athletic a guy, but he's a mauler.
Indeed... Steelers sign Acy to one-year contract...
*The team has also waived tight end Charles Jones and punter Corliss Waitman.
So Acy was with San Fran, Seattle and Washington last season, but not on any of their active rosters. 6'2" 195lbs and apparently the scouting on him is that he doesnt seem to have a burst of speed in his game or isnt "twitchy". Maybe time to consider a move to Safety from CB?
Yeah, the kid doesnt sound like he has had much luck staying healthy. He has played 4 games over the past 3 seasons.
Gilbert has played just four games and 226 snaps over the last three seasons due to major injuries to his hip and foot that have required surgery. It takes a trip back to 2017 tape to find the player that was a draftable playmaker with confidence and ball skills resulting in 21 passes defensed, including six interceptions. With a lack of desired build and an expanding history of durability concerns it is highly likely that Gilbert will have to prove himself through an undrafted free agent route.

lol that was hilarious how he handed the ball to the defender, but that's probably a guaranteed flag
Here are some highlights of Shakur Brown.

Steelers Undrafted Rookies Who Can Make the Roster in 2021
Noah Strackbein
The Pittsburgh Steelers could find another diamond in the rough within the 2021 undrafted rookie class.
PITTSBURGH -- The Pittsburgh Steelers added eight undrafted free agents to their roster following the 2021 NFL Draft, and honestly, left themselves plenty of potential in a loaded class of rookies.
Of the eight players the Steelers signed after the draft, three stand out as potential roster boosts. Pittsburgh has plenty of depth to fill this summer, and are never shy from letting an undrafted rookie earn his place within the NFL.
Shakur Brown, CB, Michigan State
It starts with Shakur Brown. While some believed Brown would've found himself drafted over the weekend, sliding into free agency certainly helped the Steelers.
Pittsburgh was able to draft Tre Norwood in the seventh round, adding depth at safety and inside corner. Now, with the addition of Brown, they have another name with potential to compete for the slot corner job.
Brown racked up five interceptions during his junior year at Michigan State while playing mostly on the inside. His weakness comes from his lack of speed, which doesn't allow him to cover receivers deep.
Where he shines is the way he plays with a chip on his shoulder. At 5'11, Brown runs around like he needs to make every play on the field, and carries a demeanor that will fit perfectly when trying to replace Mike Hilton.
Jumping from one undrafted rookie to the next might not be ideal in the NFL, but the Steelers will give it a try. Brown has a pretty good shot at proving himself this summer.

I am coming to dominate. I want to get past the practice squad roster and line up and start as a rookie.
I bring a lot of energy and a lot of toughness. I bring that energy and toughness to the team. I’m a playmaker. I make plays downfield and when it’s fourth and two or in the redzone – I know I can catch it and make the big plays.
