I thought JaMarcus Russell was making a return to the NFL! I hoped Duffy would have been drafted but I'm fine with Harvin.
In the 2012 season, I saw Andy Lee win two games for the Niners, by continuously pinning the opposition inside their own red zone. It kept the opposition from scoring (until Kaepernick was able to finally put together a scoring drive).
Similarly, the Chargers beat the Colts in a playoff game because Mike Scifres pinned Manning deep on like three straight possessions... which kept Manning from scoring/allowed the Chargers to stay in the game.
SUMMATION:

I’m all for the pick. But that percentage of kicks shanked in college is worrisome. Some scouting reports (there are not many on specialists as most football people still view what they do as inscrutable wizardry) note the big leg but also low hang time and troubling inconsistency from punt to punt.
Honestly, it sounds like Berry BUT with the potential to also kick the ball out of the stadium. No guarantee the rookie wins the job.

154th overall player drafted. Does Berry NEED to be replaced? If the answer is yes, then at least the effort was made. If no, what was the point. And if meh, maybe it will make some entertaining preseason stuff. I don't expect to punt this season. This new offense is going to score on each and every possession anyway.
I wonder if anyone remembers when the Rams went without a punter for a game or two in their 99 Super Bowl season.
