Was about to say the same, don’t know anything about him
Green was a darkhorse (on Twitter), but I never saw him as a center.
Surprised it wasn't Meinertz or Stone Forsythe. At least it's an offensive lineman
Short arms
i don't know what to say. the pick was an o-lineman...but?
Maybe Meiners’s will drop to our next pick?
Pre-Draft Analysis
Green is an effective zone blocker with good quickness and athletic ability. He has excellent range and flashes the ability to knock second level defenders back on contact. He has some upside as a pass blocker but needs to play with better technique. -- Steve Muench
Indeed As I mentioned elsewhere...
Maybe the plan is to play him at RG. A few weeks back, Trai Essex said (something to the effect of): “Don’t be surprised if the Steelers draft the best interior linemen available... and move DeCastro to center.”
Not that I think it will happen, but it is indeed an interesting idea.
Grade Analysis
Instant starter at center. Can play guard too. Explosive and naturally strong. Fantastic pick for Pittsburgh. (Chris Trapasso)
No analysis available.
we need some defense too ... OLB and S depth
no defensive picks for first two days of the draft , I would bet they will go that direction with the next pick or two atleast

thats the same idiot that saidPat Freiermuth TE, PSU
Height: 6-5, Weight: 260
Reminds me of Nick Vannett. Decent separation and YAC skill. Just don't know if he moves the needle as much as a receiver. But where's the offensive line? (Chris Trapasso) C+
Kenny Pickett is who I though he was .. Eagles problem now
I think we see the “Canada” offense taking shape. I think there will be a great deal of movement and pulling.
funny thing... i just realized that while playing with the pff draft simulator before i drafted Kendrick Green....lol
Finny is the experienced starting center, for now. This kid gets to learn the game, the OL calls, and bulk up. No rush to start him.
I've seen crap on line that he's not a natural center, blah, blah. But some of those same nimrods say he's a day one starter at guard. Whatever. It isn't rocket surgery; the position can be learned. Jeff Hartings was a guard, Ray Mansfield was a DT, Dirt Dawson played G & C, etc.
Reading some comments on Twitter...
1) Green stated that the Steelers told him that they want him to play center
2) the Steelers saw him as the most athletic center in the draft/best fit for what they want to do on offense...which goes back to what mojoUW stated above (about Canada's offense)
3) assistant O-line coach, Chris Morgan, specializes in outside zone... which is what Green excels at doing
Looking back at the last 2 days I think the first 3 rounds went just the way the Steelers wanted.
