Re: It Is Officially Mock Draft Season

Here it is. The first mock to predict Landon Dickerson to be taken by the Ravens with one of their R1 picks.

    https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/...rown-jr-trade/

I gotta say, that even though I would be heartbroken, getting BOTH Darrisaw and Humphrey would absolutely ease my pain. Sort of akin to not getting a bike for Christmas, but getting a skateboard AND a basketball hoop.

Re: It Is Officially Mock Draft Season

    24: R1 P24 C Creed Humphrey - Oklahoma
    55: R2 P23 RB Javonte Williams - North Carolina
    87: R3 P23 CB Eric Stokes - Georgia
    128: R4 P23 TE Tommy Tremble - Notre Dame
    140: R4 P35 OT Stone Forsythe - Florida
    216: R6 P32 LB Ernest Jones - South Carolina
    245: R7 P17 EDGE Carlo Kemp - Michigan
    254: R7 P26 S Michael Carter II - Duke

I probably like this fanspeak sim better than the other one I posted recently. Steelers could literally probably draft 3 convenient store clerks in rounds 6-7 and still be an A+ with the first 4 rounds like this

I think the value here is what makes this mock so appealing. Stokes is rumored to be creeping up into the 25-40 range; so, getting him in R3 is good value.

Likewise, Fosythe is in a lot of mocks around 55-75 (although, up until last week, he was seen as an early Day 3 prospect). Regardless, it’s a quality pick.

Lastly, I agree. Your first five picks are good... versus having a really good first three picks in your previous mock. It’s essentially a trade off of losing Jenkins (who is gonna be stellar) whike gaining Stokes, Tremble, AND Fosythe (which is a great trade off).

The Bills are looking to trade up (for ETN). Of course, he's a guy who the Steelers have been looking at. Then again, if Najee is the Steelers' guy, and if Najee is gone at 24, then maybe the Steelers trade down.

Robert Hainsey played as an OT at Notre Dame. I know most believe he will need to move to guard in the NFL. Are you projecting him as a center?

I am. At the senior bowl Hainsey looked like a natural playing at center. Smart player. I believe the Steelers view him as a projected center also.

I just wanted to clarify. The Irish always have interesting OL players to look at. He's a powerful guy. If he can handle all the responsibilities of C, he would be a man-mover inside.

He seems to best fit in a power blocking scheme.

Re: It Is Officially Mock Draft Season

    Final mock...probably.

    1. L. Dickerson- If they're really trying to improve the running game then it starts with Dickerson. He's an instant upgrade over Finney. The more I think about it the more I believe that the C position is in fact our biggest need. If they don't pull the trigger on Dickerson in the 1st then there's a good chance they miss out on Meinerz and Humphrey in the 2nd, IMO.

    2. Browning- I've been really high on this guy. He's a freak athletically and would pair very well with Bush. He also has nice size for the position. I've seen Browning going anywhere from the 1st to 4th round. Hopefully, he's available at 55.

    3. Sermon- While I'm not as high as others on Sermon...I do believe he will be the best back available back at 87.

    4. Tremble- Another one I'm not as high on. The potential is there. He has all the tools. He was used primarily as an H-back. People are claiming he's an excellent blocker, but playing the H-back role compared to an in line TE are 2 different ball games. I see him as a move TE and maybe Canada can find ways to get him involved.

    4. S. Toney- Best available edge at this point. Many claim he's actually better than Oweh. I'll be honest...I don't know much about him, but from what I've read it seems like he can provide solid depth at the least.

    6. T.Doyle- Finally address the T position. Doyle is a decent prospect. He won't be taking anyone's starting position, but could develop into starting material in a few years.

    7. A. Faoliu- Dline prospect destined to the PS.

    7. J. Imatorbhebhe- I can't see the Steelers not taking a WR. Imator posted a 46.5 inch vertical. Could be a nice guy to have in the redzone. He's also a very physical WR. He would probably also be destined to the PS.

Hainsey isnt overly bulky at 6'4" 306lbs and moves fairly well. Notre Dame shifted their run game last year to more outside zone under OC Tommy Rees, so Hainsey will have a lot of experience in zone blocking, as well as man schemes. He prides himself on versatility, so he could easily fit as a G/C for the Steelers I think.

IMO, his counterpart at Guard, Aaron Banks is more of the bigger guy at 325lbs who is a mauler in a man system. Both showed well at Senior Bowl week. I still think that Eichenberg gets looked at as a RT or maybe even a candidate to move inside.

Re: It Is Officially Mock Draft Season

Here’s a good one. Lots of guys off of the “met AND/OR Pro Day” list. The two “small school” guys on Day 2 could turn out to be two of the biggest steals in recent draft history; if they had been at bigger schools, they’d be sure fire R1 picks. We’ve all talked about the top four quite a bit.

And, the Steelers drafting a corner from French Canada is known as the Mapletron effect.

    https://www.steelcityunderground.com...rs-mock-draft/

    R1: Najee Harris, RB, ‘Bama
    R2: Quinn Meinerz, OC, Whitewater
R3: Spence Brown, OT, Northern Iowa
R4: Tommy Tremble, TE, Norte Dame
R4: Benjamin St. Juste, CB, Minnesota

I think that this is it right here. Maybe Meinerz in R2, but this feels like the way that Day 2 will end.

With Hainsey, I'm not crazy about his feet or movement skills. I think there are times it looks like he struggles to get to his blocks. I think pulling may be a problem with him. That's why I think he may do better in power blocking schemes because he may not be capable of playing at a high level based on lack of movement skills.

I hear you about Banks. He is a mauler with better size and power. Your prototypical phone booth guy.

Eichenberg is probably the least talked about OT that may go in the first round. He is pretty impressive. You are correct. He probably has to move to RT or will be a candidate to move inside. He is the guy I would most like of that group if he was available in the right spot.
