I’ve never doubted whether Haskins has the physical tools. It’s his head. He may be all humble and hard-working now but if and when he becomes a star - will he go all Antonio Brown / Leveon Bell on us? I don’t know if he has the maturity to handle success. And remind you Brown and Bell were also being “managed” by Tomlin so Tomlin wasn’t enough to counteract their egos.

having said that I wish for his success. But I still have concern that Haskins short term success if he has it will cause long term harms to the Steelers (by delaying a proper search for a new QB)

Thursday and beyond will start to tell the story. History isn't exactly kind to "physically gifted but a major headcase". Otherwise we just have another Kordell, a Jameis Winston on our hands or worst case, another Jamarcus Russell.

Washington gleefully unloaded this guy for Alex Smith. His talent didn't matter.

Haskins is the clear favorite among fans and writers and better impress in game action and start blowing Rudy out of the water.

That'd be a pretty good problem to have. Thankfully, QBs tend to become a little more CEO'ish with stardom because it's unbecoming for the position otherwise (unlike WRs and CBs).

Paul Zeise’s mailbag: Is Dwayne Haskins already the Steelers’ best quarterback?

Landon: Is Dwayne Haskins the best quarterback on the Steelers right now? Does he have a chance to take over for Ben Roethlisberger by the end of the season? I’m pretty excited about Haskins and think the Steelers should make him the starter right now.

Zeise: OK, let’s please come back to earth on this Dwayne Haskins thing. Yes, he has been a surprise and has played much better than most expected, but let’s not lose our minds. He is not better than Ben Roethlisberger right now and won’t be this season. Haskins has to prove he has matured and put a lot of his nonsense behind him before anyone is going to trust him to be their starting quarterback. He could win the backup job and maybe be a future starter but right now he is a just a guy with a few good days at camp.

I'd say it's already a big win for the FO if he can land the #2 job. I'm not going crazy with saying he's Ben's heir apparent but I don't think it's a stretch to say he can put up a fight against Rudolph

Looks like some people need to get a grip. They are getting way too hyped up. History is full of examples of being a great workout warrior not translating on the field

What if he is? It’s not beyond impossible. I’m not saying he is, but it’s not 100% impossible.

If he is is irrelevant to my point, my point is it's impossible to tell now and people are getting too excited based off practices

As far as head cases go, if Haskins gives us a six-year run like the one AB had, I’ll help Dwayne throw furniture at strippers.

I hope when the season starts Rudolph and Haskins are relegated to the bench and largely forgotten, cause if they’re not the Steelers are in trouble

Re: Reports: Former Washington QB Dwayne Haskins To Visit Steelers

in a perfect world the Steelers see what Haskins is doing and are not being fooled by it and they are starting Rudolph in the HoF game to make him look good vs the scrubs he will likely be facing to dangle him as trade bait in front of the Colts ..

Colts then trade a decent pick ( hell I'd take a 3rd and feel fortunate ) for Rudolph and Haskins becomes the 2 with Dobbs the 3 ...

between Ben and Dobbs thats a decent set of Mentors IMO for Haskins ... Ben on football mechanics and Dobbs on the importance of hitting the books and conducting yourself off the field .. and lets roll with that
Kenny Pickett is who I though he was .. 4 teams in 5 years and traded twice in one off season
