Report: Lions Close To Hiring Away Steelers Longtime GM Kevin Colbert

    Lots of speculation going on.

According to a Wednesday morning report
, Pittsburgh Steelers general manager Kevin Colbert could be close to accepting an offer from the Detroit Lions to become their new front office leader.
According to Mike Stone of 97.1 The Ticket, the Lions have made an offer to Colbert and one that the Steelers longtime general manager is ‘close’ to accepting, the station reports Wednesday morning. The report goes on to say that it is now up to the Steelers to make a counteroffer to prevent Colbert from leaving the franchise he’s been in charge of running since 2000

Apparently the entire thing was nonsense. The updated portion at the bottom of the article:

"Gerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports Wednesday morning that the Steelers have not received a request for permission from the Lions to speak to Colbert. They cannot talk to Colbert without the Steelers’ consent, he reports."

So basically some knucklehead made wild claims based on speculation and rumor OR the "real" negotiation has already taken place "illegally" and the Lions will request permission only if they know Colbert will accept.

    Original "reporter" has recanted: https://steelersdepot.com/2021/01/so...been-debunked/

Hey, so once again, we find out that Twitter and people with no history of breaking stories are not reliable sources of information. What a shock!

Everybody is looking to make a name for themselves. If they convince the right people that they are a legit "insider", doors and opportunities open up for them.

The mainstream sports media has become as dishonest and as big of a joke as mainstream political media
