Yup, I can honestly say that I dont know of anybody that died of the flu in my lifetime. But I know of 3 people from work and 2 from social circles that died or has a spouse die after being hospitalized and on a ventilator due to Covid.

It is worth mentioning at this point that according to our knights in shining armor at the CDC, the original virus that causes COVID, as well as the Delta variant and the others, effectively do not exist at all anymore. No cases recorded in months. They have all been driven to extinction by the much less deadly Omicron and its sub-variants. The disease COVID-19 that everyone freaked out over does not exist anymore. It is no longer a public health concern, and if anyone insists that you should stay home, wear a mask, take a vaccine, or anything else of that nature, you have every right to tell them to fuck off and die.

Meanwhile, studies continue to show that there was no appreciable difference in outcome between places with severe restrictions and those with few or none.
So I think the reasonable next step is what consequences the public officials responsible for lockdowns and mandates should face. Should the death penalty be the starting point? Or simply life imprisonment, with unlimited personal liability for damages and economic losses caused by their decisions? It's an important question.

Hours after a federal judge struck down a nationwide mask requirement on airplanes, trains, buses and other public transportation on Monday, the country’s largest airlines said they would stop requiring masks, ending a practice that had been in place for most carriers for nearly two years.
The airlines weighed in after a Biden administration official said the Transportation Security Administration would no longer enforce the mask requirement while the White House reviewed the decision and determined whether it would appeal the ruling.
Generally, the airlines said they would no longer require masks at airports and on flights within the United States, though several said they would still require them when flying into cities and countries where requirements were still in place. Some airports may continue to require masks, too.
