Tua - Still think he is going to be really good
Burrow - has the mental ability to be super successful in the NFL
Herbert - based on his starts so far, I like him better than anyone else on the list.

Just a guess. I still would like to Darnold play on a competent NFL team. Like if you swapped him for Jones or Lock what would it look like?

I don't want to hijack the thread...BUT...when the Jets draft Lawrence, where does Darnold land and what does his career look like?

Again, I was crazy wrong about Herbert based on results so far. I honestly don't remember a guy looking so randomly bad in college and then just looking like the NFL wasn't all that hard...

If Ben Roethlisberger retires after this season (not likely but we never know) I think Darnold could be an option for the steelers ... It would probably not be too expensive in draft pick and even in money.

If it was 1979 I would go with Joe Montana.

If it was 2000 I would go with Tom Brady.

As for these guys? I haven't seen enough of them to make a choice.

I suspect that they could never make it work with the cap $$$, but even if Ben DOESN'T retire, I would really like to see the Steelers take a crack at getting Darnold on the roster.

It isn't that I am even that certain he will be good or even better than we have seen. But he has a ton of tools to work with and is worth trying to salvage. But what do I know? I thought Rosen was going to be the best QB in that class!!

Of that list and as a replacement for Ben?

    Herbert

This kid has a ton of promise, and I really think in our offense he would be lights out.

    Off of that particular list...

    Herbert

Burrow & Murray aren’t far behind, though.

SIDE-NOTE: Bold prediction that when the Jets draft Trevor Lawrence, Kevin Colbert sneaks in and steals Sam Darnold away (for a late-R2 pick). Darnold hasn’t played well, but it might just be the situation in which he’s been placed.

JuJu has been dropping hints (subtly) about this. “I’d love to play with my USC QB again...” Then again, this could also mean JuJu will get traded to the Jets.
