Its a rule and I guess the NFL needs to recoup some revenue somehow. Just seems a bit excessive for socks, but I guess it has to be enough to be a deterrent.

In comparison, former Steeler Jon Bostic was fined $12,000 for his late hit to the head of Andy Dalton a week ago.

The NFL has been doing this for as long as I can remember. I'm sure the amounts have changed over the years but they love to fine guys over uniform stuff.

I honestly don't have a problem with it. You play in the league, you gotta know the rules, even if they are pedantic. What I don't understand, however, is how the NFL determines that not wearing socks high enough is around forty percent as bad as bad as a late hit on a quarterback.

And, on a tangent dealing with fines, I wonder if it wouldn't be better to fine a percent of the contract rather than a hard number. After all, fining a sixth round pick in his rookie year say, $10,000, is a lot harsher than fining someone like Ben R. $30,000.

So why was Aaron Rodgers allowed to wear white socks but when a couple other players wanted to wear them for the same game, they were told they could only wear green? Seems like if there’s a uniform, they should all be dressed the same or is it just the height of the socks and color doesn’t matter?
