Cause I still hate ‘em, f those guys
It will be their biggest challenge after 3 big wins!
They aren’t looking past anyone. That doesn’t necessarily mean they won’t play down to the competition.
But honestly, I just don’t see it. The Cowboys just aren’t good enough to beat the Steelers. Or more to the point, the Steelers are just too talented to lose to the Cowboys.
The Steelers were good enough to lose the turnover battle 3-0 to the Titans and still win. We are finally good enough to beat the opponent, the refs, and balls bouncing the other way.
I watched the Eagles/Cowboys game last night. The Cowboys are like we were last season. Their starting QB is NOT an NFL QB, he looked worse than Duck did last year. The Eagles could have easily had 5 more picks he was just chucking passes up that had no business being thrown. If they don't get Dalton back by next week we should blow them out. Even with Dalton back they are just NOT a good team. If we play half as good as we did yesterday it should be a blowout.
If he's not we should destroy them.
The week after Ravens wins are typically letdowns given how physically exhausting they can be. Add another big road win right before and it would be a big upset if they weren't emotionally exhausted and come out flat
I'd love that if Tomlin is honest tomorrow and says it's a concern for him that the steelers could come out flat in Dallas.
Doesn't this team look focused? I don't think they will overlook anyone. I still don't think this ends up as an undefeated season and the Steelers will probably lose more than one this season. But I just don't think this is a group that's going to "look past" any team on their schedule.
4:25 game. They don't have the best record playing the late afternoon game.
i'm sure somehow it will come down to the last 5 minutes
I actually don't care if they lose this one. They will have to lose at some point. Better a non division non conference game.
But it’s not like the chicken pox or something, where if they lose now it makes them immune to losing later.
I want as many wins as possible. Starting with this one. We might not go 16-0 but losing this one just gives us one more loss. It won’t “get the loss out of the way.”
And the only chance at a bye before the playoffs is getting the one seed. That should be the goal. Hard to see the Chiefs losing many so we can’t really afford more than one loss. And yeah, better if it’s out of conference, but better if we remain undefeated.
I'm actually thinking that they will look better against the Cowboys. The big thing is the easier match ups, and the unforced errors that (I hope) will come our way from Dallas. They didn't put in a complete game against the Titans (remember? nyuk, nyuk), or the Ravens. A lot of what made them look like they were struggling was simply the talent level and skill of the opposing team. This week they may have a bit of a let down, and I do want the win, but if it comes, it will come from fatigue, not "looking past". Even then, we have stared near certain loss in the face and came out winners twice already. That kind of thing breeds confidence.
The players are very well aware of how special being undefeated is. Our guys won't go down for lack of trying, even if the balls don't bounce their way .
Since John Harbaugh took over as Ratbirds head coach in 2008, in the game after Ratbirds games the Steelers are:
5-6 overall
3-5 since 2010
3-6 against a non-divisional opponent
3-4 if the opponent had a losing record at the time the game was played
When playing a non-divisional opponent with a losing record at the time following a Ravens win, they are 1-4. That was in 2009 against the Dolphins, and that was a week 17 game where they were playing for a wildcard spot
Some people will make fun of this for being one of those situational stats and you can use that for anything, but I think Ravens wins are tough and taxing and there is so much energy towards them that the team is liable to have an emotional letdown the following week, especially if there is reduced stakes of a non-divisional game and the team has a losing record. I don't think it is far out of the realm of possibility to think this team will be a little worn out mentally and emotionally and will have at least a little trouble getting hyped up for a 2-6 NFC team on the road up 2.5 games in the division.
Fair enough, but the Steelers have been defying all kinds of traditional odds this year.
There was some crazy stat about the Ravens never losing when they are up by ten at the half.
And the stat that no team has lost in 50 years when they have over 200 rushing yards and however many passing yards the Ravens had.
There were a bunch of other statistics that we continue to defy.
We’ll defy all of these ones you list as well.
The Cowboys will NOT beat us. Not happening.
Maybe the struggle of the steelers against bad team under Tomlin are a myth?
THANK YOU!!!
I have been saying this for years, that Mark Kaloby put that idea into people’s heads... based on “partial” information.
Two seasons in a row, the Steelers played against a team with a “losing record”... that ended up going to the playoffs. Miami was like 1-3, but ended up 10-6, and KC was 0-4, but ended up 9-7.
As I said them, after Week 1, HALF of the teams in the NFL have a “losing record”. If Team A loses in Week 1, and then beats the Steelers in Week 2, Kaloby considered that a loss to a team with a “losing record”.
Misleading.
Half truths.
