    Brahns Week

Definitely the biggest game this season, and I guess we can call it a rivalry, both teams are looking strong right now. Predictions?

Ben continues to play well but the secondary has been worrying me the entire year. Should be a close one, Cleveland always plays us tough in their house.

I don’t think they’ll be able to stop both the pass game and the run game. They are catching a break with Chubb being out this week and the game is at home so I think it may be close but I think Mayfield and the Browns take it...unless maybe they were looking past the Eagles to the Browns and that’s why they played shitty against Philly...

A few things are working in Pittsburgh's favor. One is the distinct possibility that they will play better given their opponent's 4-1 record and the stakes. Also, knowing how the sports media treats the Browns when there's even a chance they'll have success, you can safely bet they will heap all kinds of media hype towards Cleveland while giving a lot less of that towards Pittsburgh, that could work out in the Steelers favor. Pittsburgh also has A LOT more experience in these kind of big games, most of these Cleveland players have little to none (if any it's on other teams). Plus other than Jussie "Helmet Swinger" Wallace's playing abilities, their defense doesn't impress me which means their offense could top 30 easily.

Of course they are going to need to because this pass defense has clearly regressed significantly and they haven't even played a good offense yet. They will today as Cleveland has gobs of offensive talent and a good offensive minded coach who has been allowed to make it all work.

A lot is working in Pittsburgh's favor but they're likely going to have to surpass 30 on offense, and their defense will have to force more turnovers as well.

Yeah, if the Steelers had issues getting off the field with the group of receivers the Eagles had out there, then the Browns have a heck of a lot better receivers and TE's than the Eagles do. Still want to see if any of the Miles Garrett feelings spill over from last season.

If putting up 38 points and getting 5 sacks and 2 INTs is 'playing shitty', I hope they play shitty every week.

The real test starts now and we will have a good idea in the next 3 weeks how good the steelers are.

Well I can see the case where they allowed a team that had time scoring against the freakin Bengals put up 29 on us.

The o line injuries scare me. It’s like we can cover for DeCastro but not DeCastro and Pouncey both being out.

I’m less concerned with the potential of Diontae Johnson being out since Claypool is doing so well. But I’m really worried about keeping Ben upright and run blocking.

Every week is it's own unique game. My Memphis team beat ArkState, ArkState beat KState, KState beat Oklahoma, Oklahoma beat Texas.........Memphis 'could' beat Texas but I'll not say they 'should' beat Texas. Weren't there several comments leading up to the game on here about how the Eagles always play the Steelers tough no matter the records? Yes, there were. For all we know this could be the last game we win this season. Why can we not just enjoy the moment for once? First time 4-0(5-0 had we played our game last week) since 1979 is something worth celebrating. Now it's Browns week and it's 'how are we gonna beat the mighty Browns'? CALM down.

Yeah, they made Wentz to Fulgham look like the new Montana to Rice combination.

It’s looking like Pouncey will play, so that’s got me feeling better about it.

It’s also looking optimistic for Diontae Johnson. So now I’m wondering if Claypool sees less action, or if they maybe take some snaps away from Washington. Or if they use more 4 WR sets. But they also like using two TEs so I don’t know.

Steelers offense has so many options. I don’t want to always be one of those “Fichtner sucks!” guys all the time, but I wonder what a real offensive genius would do with these weapons.

Last game was pretty creative and overall positive... so I guess we have to attribute that to Canaday in order for it to make sense in our heads.

Sounds about right. The Long Snapper put together a good offensive plan.

The defense issues against the eagles were not to contain their best weapons (like Zach Ertz or Sanders, outside of 1 run),it was to contain others

Well, up until this weekend Big Ben held the record of most wins by a QB in the Browns’ current stadium. Mayfield just passed him.

I’m sure Ben still has more lifetimes victories in Ohio.

I just read an ESPN article where the 'experts' give their quick takes on different hot-point topics. Not worth sharing so no link. To pick an upset this week, one 'expert' took the Browns over the Steelers. Maybe a slight upset since it's a 4-0 team vs a 4-1 team but whatever. Anyway his reason for the Browns upsetting the Steelers is because Stefanski ran screens well at Minnesota, and this week he will break out the screen passes on the Steelers to combat the blitz. It's an interesting take because it puts the defense into one on one situations which can break into big gains if the tackle is broken or missed. But this Steeler defensive team speed almost begs teams to try that approach.

What do you guys think is the weak spot the BROWNS will try to exploit? Not debating, just curious your thoughts.

I think I certainly try Kareem Hunt on screen passes. I mean he almost won a league MVP doing similar with KC.

I look at trying to exploit the coverage that the Giants did with Slayton on the deep TD pass only with ODB.

I try and find ways to force the Steelers into a Mike Hilton on Jarvis Landry match-up and then I beat Hilton like a drum. Same with Austin Hooper on Devin Bush.

Anytime I see Edmunds being asked to run downfield with ODB with no over the top help, I tell Baker to put it up and let his guy go get it. Just like Wilson and Metcalf in the Seahawks game from last season.

That's all I got for now. Cool question.

    Brahns Week

Well, if you look and the high level matchups, we have the advantage. They have a top level run game, we have a defense built to stop the run (and they are missing their top RB). They a middle of the road pass defense, out passing attacking is really starting to get traction. Our pass defense is middle of the road currently, but we have been able to shut down teams top weapons, if we can contain OBJ, we should be ok. Our pass rush should be able to get home to Baker. We need to focus on stopping Garret from making the game changing plays. It is going to be a toss up for me, but we certainly have the talent and tools and matchups to win this one.

I think we can torch them with our passing game. This is why I think they will run the ball and the clock.

The Browns, Titans, and Ravens(Steelers next 3 opponents) are all run first offenses. They use the run to set up play action and get receivers matched up on LBs. I think the Browns will score points just like the Eagles did but I expect a lot more run plays from them. The screen game is an effective tool against blitz heavy defenses but the Steelers have the ability to set an edge for containment while at the same time getting a rusher into the QB's face. Baker will be on the move a lot this game, IMO. TJ and Bud will be going up against the rookie LT Wirfs and RT Chris Hubbard, I like that matchup for the OLBs. I do worry about a Myles Garrett on Chuks matchup or them sliding him inside right now. Garrett will be coming. We can also expect Claypool to see a double team the whole game. Time for JuJu, Wash, RayRay, or Ebron to shine.

The one potential problem I might see with the Steelers run defense is that once a back gets past that line and backers, it’s free sailing. Just based on the fact that the Defense seems to be crashing down so hard and so fast that if a back squirts through (Miles Sanders), they have a lot of daylight in front of them.

Maybe, but at the same time, the long TD run by Sanders was on a passing down(3rd down and 9)..So I will not overreact on this play.

Not an overreaction, just something to keep an eye on?

I expect this week will be a lot of screens to Kareem Hunt...that’s kinda his thing...

Yeah and I hope the steelers will be careful about this and the screen game of the browns will be part of the gameplan of the steelers in defense.

We're hopefully splitting with the Browns/Ravens this year so you have to take care of your house, although this year it's a little different with the small/no crowds.

Isn't this true for almost all defenses? And Sanders would have been tackled at the 40 if the Eagles receiver was actually called for holding Edmunds.

I don’t think all defenses come in with as many and as hard and as fast as the Steelers do. I mean this team is up field in an instant at times. That can’t be said for all defenses. Most teams have a second level to get through. The Steelers just have a monster first level of speed and havoc...lol.
