I can not believe the NFL's plan was to schedule things as if there would be no outbreaks and then to have to reschedule things that throw off teams' schedules as soon as positive tests come back.
There were going to be positive tests. With no "bubble" there were guaranteed to be positive tests results. How was this the plan?
So say the Steelers beat the Titans but lose in Week 5 because guys are beat up and less prep time...and then don't get the first round bye? Or miss the AFC North title by one game? Or slip one spot in the seeding and end up on the road in the playoffs in front of newly unleashed hostile crowds? Same for the Titans.
The NFL is just so awful at being reasonably proactive.
They should have added "bye" weeks into the schedule. Divide the season into quarters. A bye after every quarter. Reassess policies and practices. Continue the next quarter? How is this hard?
