Agree with you there. He doesnt have the feet to stop them and then accelerate thru a hole. Snell just becomes a sitting duck most of the time instead of trying to get skinny or drive the pile thru a crease.
Still, I dont think the line is as bad as many think, but the scheme. Look at the below video at the 6:30 mark on the goal line 1st and goal run to Snell. Linemen are in 2 point stance, which gives less leverage on short yardage, then at the snap of the ball DeCastro lifts his left foot and puts it down like a zone run step. IMO, he should be stepping towards the DT and sealing off the gap to his right, as Chukks combination blocks the DE with Ebron and then goes to the LB at second level.
Putting your O line in a 2 point pass set stance and having them zone step laterally when all you need is 1 yard forward for a TD is just putting them at a disadvantage. I bet if I look back at some other short yardage runs, there will be similar 2 point stance and lack of surge because of lack of leverage and a blocking technique that isnt about gaining forward ground.
