Snell will be fine. RBs go through slumps just like hitters in baseball. Unless he gets a case of 'the YIPs' he'll be fine.

4 rushes for 8 yards on either .....1st and 10 or 2nd and 6, 2nd and 8.
3 rushes in short yardage:
- 1st and goal---No Gain
-3rd and 1--1 yard
- 3rd and 1--2 yards
So he averaged 1 YPC in his 3 short yardage carries and 2 YPC in his 4 regular carries that were not short yardage. He went down on first contact like a European soccer player.
Snell will be ok. Its Samuels whose purpose has almost disappeared from this team. That's especially true if McFarland continues to show promise. I don't see much for Samuels. I think Connor is superior catching passes out of the backfield. I'm not saying Conner has the best hands, or that he runs pass routes like a wr or anything. I do like how he squares his shoulders and turns up field with power after he catches a pass. If you throw a pass to Conner 2 yards short of the markers I have some confidence he will push for the first.

The key with Conner appears to be health. He has looked great. Its pretty apparent that Mcfarland will continue to see more playing time, unless he gets fumblitis or cant pick up blitz. Those are only reasons that make sense. Snell and Samuels offer nothing more than the average practice squad RB at this point.
IF he doesn't fumble and continues to learn pass blocking, McFarland is going to pass everyone on the depth chart. I figured with that speed, would just be a gadget dude. but he has some weight to him and some grit. I feel this is our future star RB with Steelers grit and speed! Snell will be 3rd string behind Connor and McFarland.

10 carries in the last 2 games, that's too little to judge on that, especially since some of his carries were in the short yards situation.I'm not saying he's great or anything but I'm never going to rate an RB with such a little workload, especially an RB of his style.Sometimes the overreactions are crazy like it was with Conner after week 1
For Conner, he's a very good RB when he's healthy, so I'll hope his health problem is a thing of the past, but one thing's for sure, it would have been an awful idea to trade him for a 6th round pick before the draft as six ring had suggested.
Snell is a combined 17 carries for 35 yards in the last 3 games. I think its safe to say he isnt going to be the lead back any time soon.
Yeah, it’s almost like it’s preseason and the RBs are pre-scheduled to be in the game at certain times rather than situationally.
I like the use of Ray Ray on the reverse in the same formation they’d used earlier in the game for a run that the Eagles flowed to really well. It’s like they were doing it as a set up.
In retrospect, they did a lot of offensive scheming that worked well. Like that screen to Claypool for the TD instead of going to Ebron on the other side. It’s nice to see our WRs be such enthusiastic blockers.
James Conner has been very good this year
This is despite week 1...
So is Snell still the "chain mover" that has "earned top dog at the RB spot"? Two rushes for 2 yards I think is his statline.
Is the "nail in the coffin in Conner's career" still? Or was that a thumb tack? Something on the stat sheet says he had 82 yds rushing and 29 yds receiving. I think Conner might get to keep his helmet for at least one more week.
I don't care who is running the ball at the goal line, as long as it ends up with 6 points. Conner clearly is the #1 guy but there still is his injury history looming. Let's see if he can stay healthy. Our team is due a stinker game and it could come this weekend in Baltimore and then the sky will start falling everywhere.
This is it! I have a gut feeling that Snell is going to show that suddeness and glide of a feature RB today.
Maybe Snell is better when he has more carries .... I don't know, but we'll see if this is the case against the Ravens.
Every time I see snell run the ball it's like I'm watching a black & white clip of a 1945 running back.
The UK Benny Snell carried the ball over 700 times vs SEC defenses and went over 1000 yards all 3 years, averaging 5 or more yards per carry. Maybe it's blocking, maybe it's wearing a defense down and breaking off big runs at the end of games, maybe a combination of things. Snell's college tape shows that he was indeed a very good college RB.
Now in his 2nd pro season he has carried the ball 165 times total for just over 600 yards. His 3.8 yards per carry makes him seem like an average NFL RB. OR maybe a short yardage specialist like some have described him on here. If you look at his approx 1.5 yards before contact and approx 2 yards after contact average and only 7 rushes per game, it does seem that he's used more in short yardage/goal-line situations.
I'm not defending Snell as a feature RB in the NFL but I don't think that has been his role up to this point either. Conner is definitely the feature RB for the Steelers.
