This is a young WR corps. Claypool(22), JuJu and McCloud(23), Wash and DJ(24). RBs are almost just as young. Snell and McFarland(22), Samuels(24), and Conner(25). I hope these guys can stay healthy this year.

It seems like roster manipulation to me. Guys that would be too long in the league to get placed on PS under normal circumstances are being stuck on PS to be activated if needed later. There used to be a PS eligibility that ran out after about 3 or 4 seasons. I don't know if there was a permanent rule change on this or if this is an exception year due to no preseason games. All this to say I don't think McCullers got replaced so much as the Steelers didn't want Carlos Davis to get poached off of PS. AND McCullers already knows the system and can be plugged in as needed. More of a need over want move, IMO.

I didnt hear any buzz about Carlos Davis, but I might have missed something. But, folks can look at the Shrine game video here for #96 in Blue and see him get pushed around a lot and really show minimal athleticism. His brother Khalil actually looked substantially better than Carlos. Not sure he was a big threat to get poached, but maybe the Steeler just have that poor of depth at the nose?

But if you want to see Kevin Dotston move defenders, he is #75 in red playing RG in this game.

    It was all about $$$

    Carlos Davis makes $633 K against the 2020 cap - https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/pittsbur...s-davis-47830/

Big Dan was going to make $1.625 million against the 2020 cap - https://steelersdepot.com/2019/03/ne...iel-mccullers/
Big Dan is NOW making $204 K against the 2020 cap - https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/pittsbur...cullers-14626/

Basically, they are paying him the veteran PS minimum for 17 weeks - https://dknation.draftkings.com/nfl/...19-coronavirus

I think that it was all in a move to clear salary cap space. Davis on the rookie PS minimum is not as much of a savings as McCullers was.

Thanks for the info. That makes sense.

Interesting part of that salary breakdown is that Dan McCullers has made $4.667 million dollars in his career with the Steelers. Getting paid over $600k a year for 7 years of being disappointing is quite an accomplishment.

It's pretty much always about money.

Yeah. I wonder if the #s for Skippwr, Elliot, and Okjfeeujftuubvvfgs would reveal something similar.

3 Toledo backers and 2 spots...
