I'll have to re watch the Shrine bowl game and look at him better. I thought Onwenu was the best mauler at guard at the Shrine game. Thought Jon Runyan jr was the better technician and believe Ben Bredeson to be better than all of them. Decent pick up , but still like Bredeson better.

Okay, now I feel better! I don't know anything about him, but I hope he is a nasty, pound the fucker across from you, lineman! I want guys who love to seek and destroy, then turn around with a smile on their face as the other guy slowly picks himself up off the turf.

I like the pick. Plays physical and has some limitations and technique issues currently but sounds like a solid kid with great attitude. After checking out the shrine game footage here is what I saw.

-Quick off the snap and arrives with intention to move defenders
    - when he uses his long arms, it helps on combination blocks and getting to 2nd level defenders
-pass protection is stout, but doesn't change direction well, but appears to have his head on a swivel for twists
-does a good job of walling off defenders from the run side/gap

-looks like more of a waist bender than knee bender.
-initiates run blocks by leaning in with head and shoulders, instead of bending knees and shooting with his arms
-played with wide elbows and punched outside the frame on a few occasions instead of getting hands inside
-can sometimes get his head to far over his feet in pass protection and leave susceptible to a push-pull move

Overall he is a big 6'4" 310 pound guard with long arms that plays nasty. Has a lot of sloppy technique that needs to be cleaned up as he looks to his with his pads too much and forearm flipper in the run game. Not sure if its lack of strength or that is what he was coached, but some good coaching and strength program can make him a player like Ramon Foster was 3 years ago.

For round three, I would have taken Guard Simpson over Highsmith.

    I agree with your assessment.

He has some bad technique issues because he has been able to dominate simply doing what he has been doing. He won't be able to get away with it at the NFL level, but everything is correctable IMO,

He is nasty. He imposes his will on his assignment and isn't happy until the utter destruction is complete and he finishes every play. How do you not love that in a player?

He is exactly what a team drafts when you want to run the football better.

I love this pick. He was a steal at that point of the draft.

I think you might eat your words on this one .... this kid is a mauler who would instantly be the strongest lineman on the roster so strength isnt going to be an issue ...
Kenny Pickett is who I though he was .. Eagles didn't value him either , now he is a Stain at the Mistake by the Lake 3 teams in 4 years more of a shooting star than a superstar

Moving a 300lb man from point A to a predetermined point B against his will is not easy to do no matter what college he went to. Strength vs strength always gets trumped by technique and leverage. Go back and read EGJ’s critique. He’ll not most likely jump in front of Feiler or Wiz his rookie year. Let the coaches work with him on using his 6’4” frame to stay low and use those long arms and move his feet for leverage. I think he has a bright future. He does need some work first.

    1. Go read what I wrote about "small school players" in the other thread.

    2. I am assuming that you knew about Biadasz's hip and shoulder concerns. Most of us are well aware of it, and knew that he would be a calculated risk. I just want to clarify that you actually knew this (and did not think that Biadasz was healthy).

    1. I don't think things are as simple as Small School vs Power 5. For the complaints that Dotson didn't goto the Senior Bowl, he handled McTelvin Agim several times very impressively at the Shrine game and Agim was at the Senior Bowl.

    2. I would not have drafted Biadasz with Clevelands pick. Injury concerns and average athlete that could be a liability in pass protection at the next level. Sean Mahan thinks he is overrated.

    1. Exactly

    2. That decides it. I trust your analysis of O-linemen.
