We just don’t get to have TE as an overwhelming strength right now, but that’s not the worst thing in the world. I’d rather get great value at another position than reach for a TE.

We actually have a couple of pretty decent pass catching TEs. Plus we brought in the other Watt brother as a FB who might also be able to play the position.

Now we can draft BPA with an eye towards O line, D Tackle, and really look for NFL ready players over projects this year. Because our priority is winning now, and as you say, we can’t count on the usual preseason to prepare guys.

This year a team that retains its good players has an advantage over teams that are trying to assemble new talent. My fear is the Ben rust factor but we just have to hope he gains chemistry with these guys quickly.
You bring up a valid point. What is Ben's comfort level with JuJu, Wash, and Johnson, without AB drawing the double? How much work has he gotten with Samuels and Snell? If his TC and preseason throwing is basically on a 'pitch count'(don't know that it is) what will reps look like? Plus the usual rust from having not played for close to a year could very well mean another slow offensive start to this season. Which will no doubt bring up questioning Ben's arm and if he's healed or not.

Nick Vannett signed for $5.7 million for 2 years.

Watt was brought in... Matakevich left... carry the one... From what the comp pick mathematicians are saying: in the 2021 draft, the Steelers currently have a R4 comp pick and two R6 comp picks.
