Yeah, instead of coming together to find common ground all we have done is find ways that we are different and special. And because of that we deserve different or special treatment. And that turned into the total cluster fuck of I want, I want, I'm entitled, your ancestors did this or that. PAY ME!!!!!!

See you Space Cowboy ...

I think it's hilarious that despite the stark contrasts and sharp disagreement that take place here; it is still more enlightening and useful than 95% of the debate I usually come across.

Any volunteers?
https://www.the-scientist.com/news-o...momentum-67525Support for Vaccine Challenge Trials Gains Momentum
The idea of deliberately infecting volunteers with SARS-CoV-2 has garnered significant attention as a potential avenue to speedier development, as the World Health Organization weighs in with recommendations.

I figure we do pretty good for a football forum. I know I get after it with some people and strongly disagree a bunch -- but I don't mean to offend or at least not too much...
Honestly, hope everyone muddles through all this as best as they can. Hopefully soon something normal will re-emerge.
I certainly would prefer to go back to arguing about how Tomlin is a cheerleader and Randy Fichtner is an idiot over thinking about all this other crap every damn day.

Human challenge trials deliberately expose volunteers to infection in order to study diseases and test vaccines or other treatment. They have been used for seasonal flu, typhoid, malaria, and cholera, among others. Researchers are exploring whether human challenge trials could speed up the development of a COVID-19 vaccine by several months, which could save millions of lives, as argued here. Even developing a vaccine one day sooner could avert tens of thousands of deaths.
Covid-19 Human Challenge Trial
We (Josh Morrison and friends) are a group of volunteers who read about the possibility of a human challenge trial and were inspired to create a hub for people to volunteer and to advocate for safe and rapid vaccine development.
Sign up below if you would be interested to participate in a human challenge trial for COVID-19 and, potentially, advocate for safe and rapid vaccine development. Please note: this is only an expression of interest. There will be multiple stages of registration and pre-qualification before selected volunteers can formally consent to participating in any human challenge trial (if ultimately approved and conducted). We will not share your information with anyone else for any reason, but will contact you with opportunities to participate in human challenge trials or related advocacy activities as they become available.

No. For a lot of us.... a year is a death sentence. But, I wouldn't expect you and others like you to understand. We're only a couple of months into this people. Can't you wait 'till we're a year into it before going completely nuts?

I've been very civil with you, up to this point. With this post you have proven to be an uncaring, non understanding, fuck you, pieceof shit. So.... FUCK YOU! It's all good since you are just fine, and have ZERO to lose in this gigantic fucking fiasco. I will not respond to another thing you post. You are nothing but a fucking loser troll that is relishing in your non consequential trolling of others. you care nothing about anyone else ... only screaming from the safety of your home while being completely un affected by any of this. Again... FUCK YOU!

Interesting ideas about things that might actually work on both the economy and the virus. Implementing these or other "bold" ideas is what actual leadership would look like.
Also a bit of additional data that until the virus is countered the economy looks buggered even without shutdowns.
Overall, some powerful indicators that without significant federal spending getting unleashed, we're all screwed.
But, Best Buy is there for you with curbside delivery.

I guess I can say this now....I have had the virus. It wasn’t great, but didn’t kill me. The weirdest part....I had no sense of taste or smell for three weeks. I told my wife, I think I would rather be deaf than go the rest of my life not being able to taste or smell. If you want anymore info. Let me know. This thing was in this country well before the “experts” thought. I went through it back in mid February.

You've got to remember you're dealing with a 14-year-old here. They get off on this shit.
One thing that has puzzled me, but I will admit I don't know any of the advanced scientific reasons for, is why a vaccine is so difficult to produce. On a very elementary level, you grow some samples of the virus in a lab, you kill it, you inject the dead virus into people, they develop antibodies. Very basic high-school level stuff, but they've cured diseases that way. For some reason, I guess it's not so simple with this one, but I have no idea why.
Now, if the reason they're not just doing that and injecting people will-nilly is that it would only be effective part of the time, or they need to jump through regulatory hoops to certify it, then that would be really fuckin stupid.

The science says that the vaccine process is far more complex than how we all usually talk about it.
A vaccine may simply never be found.

A bit more: https://www.google.com/amp/s/api.nat...er-than-a-year
Basically we already have vaccines for all the nasty things you can just dink around with weakened bits of the bug and come out with a vaccine.
For others, that approach just doesn't do anything effective.
After that, I'd have to read up on it all some more. Currently don't know enough to lay out details.
