Here are some free agent TEs: Hooper, Henry, Ebron, Hollister, Jarwin, Reed, Witten, Eifert, Lewis, Bell, Clay...

Do any of these names sound interesting/doable?

Some of these guys are also big injury risks. I mean what a waste if talent Eifert has been. And Jordan Reed.

What is it with TEs? At least Jesses James was always available when he played for us.
Those are solid names and good questions. If I get some time, I'll try and look into those.

    TE Estimated Market Values:

    Eric Ebron - $7.4M
    Hunter Henry - $8.9M
    Austin Hooper - $9.9M

That’s from sporttrac based on comparable players at the same position with similar production.

Then there are a ton of others. I’m not opposed to signing McDonald to a longer deal, his production just isn’t $7M/year production.

This is my thought, can we extend Vance and lower his cap hit, say $15mil over 3 years? Get a couple mil back for this year, not have a hole at the position going into the draft and if we draft a TE high, not have to start him game one.

So another swing and a miss for Jason La Canfora?

They should just slap the franchise tag on him. I know its premature, but why wait to pay for his greatness?

He'll be injured and on the bench before midseason

Are there any FA TEs you’d go after that you think would be better value than McDonald?

Ebron might cost just as much or more, and is he really an upgrade? I think Vance, when healthy is a better weapon. But Ebron has had injuries too if I’m not mistaken.

I don’t think there’s necessarily a great solution for the TE position in 2020. Even if we draft one, I don’t know how much he would contribute quickly. That’s why I’m wary of using our 2nd round pick on the position. I certainly wouldn’t want to reach for one out of need.

No, and I doubt they bring a vet in. If they keep Vance, I'd draft a TE. If they don't keep Vance, I'd draft a TE. I still think they can get a good player in R3 or R4.

tell the truth, you would draft a TE every year
