    Plan B. Reload in 2021

Please hear me out. We aren't sure if Ben can come back and even it he does at say 90% of what he was, the Steelers have only won three times in the post season in the past ten years.

1 ) Take a comp pick for Durpee and Hargrave, giving us a projected 3rd and 4th round comp pick in 2021 and persevering a lot of cap space. We would need to spend round 2 and 3 for replacements this year, but they would be much cheaper. I suspect Durpee will us a tag to retain. ( 13.8 million for one year )

2 ) Let Ben play out his last season if he does come back. In 2021 he can retire ( freeing up 31.5 million in cap space ), or be cut, for 19 million in cap savings.

Come 2021, both Tomlin and Colbert, contracts expire, which would give our new head coach / GM if Rooney decides their time is up plenty of cap space to work with and a good amount of draft picks.

This plan B doesn't mean we cannot make the playoffs in 2020, as we were 8-8 with out Ben.

That essentially already is the plan. There is a reason that hardly anyone's contract throughout the organization runs past 2021 or 2022.

The team has 11 players under contract for 2022 and no dead money currently on that cap year -- https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/pittsbur...lers/cap/2022/

Basically the only difference between your proposal and the best publicly available information we have about the team's plans is that Dupree is going to get a contract.

The next 2-4 years of the Pittsburgh Steelers essentially boils down to an evaluation of how much Ben R has left and how long he wants to play. And the contract status of everyone except recent draft picks reflects that.

How many “blow up the team, Ben sucks, reload” threads are you going to start? Simple fact is, we have our current SB window now, by all accounts are Ben will be back healthy and with our current weapons and Def we have a good SB chance.

We already know Ben can come back. He’s on schedule according to the timetable. So there’s no issue there.

Yep if we can keep the defense intact for 1-2 more seasons they'll be tough to beat.
