Has Andy Reid done enough to make the pro football hall of fame?

    Andy Reid's Resume:

21 years as a head coach
    185 games won
    15 playoff games won
1 super bowl win as head coach, 1 as an assistant ( QB coach )

I think he makes the hall of fame if he retired now. Here's where he ranks in the key metrics:

21 years as a head coach is rare. 12th all time

    185 games won is 6th all-time.

15 playoff games won, 6th all-time time, one behind Noll

1 Super Bowl win as the head coach, the cherry on the top missing from his resume. Tied for 14th all time.

Yeah for sure. First ballot if he wins another one. Honestly Reid and Cowher are similar in the sense that they got close to the SB many times, but never won it until they had a legit franchise QB.

McNabb was close to it, but the guy was a choke artist when it mattered most

Probably because they've lowered the standards.

Re: Has Andy Reid done enough to make the pro football hall of fame?

Reid now has the Lombardi to go with the rep as an offensive guru out of the Mike Holmgren (which came out of the Bill Walsh) coaching tree who has his own impressive list of former assistants who have gone on to be NFL head coaches

It has produced 10, and counting, NFL head coaches, who have won two Super Bowl crowns and 12 division titles, been to six conference championship games and made 19 playoff appearances.

A whopping six of Big Red’s coaching offspring — Doug Pederson (Eagles), John Harbaugh (Ravens), Sean McDermott (Bills), Ron Rivera (Panthers), Matt Nagy (Bears) and Pat Shurmur (Giants) — ran their own ships this season. Three of them — Pederson, Harbaugh and McDermott — had their teams in the playoffs along with Reid’s Chiefs.

He may have made it anyway, but this Super Bowl victory seals the deal for him. He's now a lock to make it.

MIAMI — Andy Reid’s coaching tree is big and bountiful.

It has produced 10, and counting, NFL head coaches, who have won two Super Bowl crowns and 12 division titles, been to six conference championship games and made 19 playoff appearances.

    Fixed.

Seriously he could easily win 1-3 more with Mahomes if he keeps coaching.

This is basically the same question as, "Should Phillip Rivers be in the Hall of Fame," only if Rivers actually won a championship. That one thing makes a huge difference.

His latest protege (Eric Sleeping with Bienemy) should have at least gotten some interviews.

I don't agree. I think Reid is more accomplished.

Philip Rivers has only started in one AFC Championship game in his entire career. He's had a lot of talent around him, but hasn't gotten his teams very far in the playoffs.

Andy Reid led the Eagles to five NFC Championship games and one Super Bowl appearance.

He has also led the Kansas City Chiefs to two AFC Championship games and one Super Bowl victory.

Reid is one of only 7 NFL head coaches to take two different franchises to Super Bowls.

Don't get me wrong.....Rivers has been a very good player, but he hasn't even come close to winning a championship with more than a few teams with championship talent.

I just think that Reid has had much more success.

Andy Reid has failed in one big game after another. Now he wins one and suddenly he's HOF material? Please, even a stopped clock is right twice a day.

Now you're catching on. Linebackers are measured against LT, Butkus, Jack Lambert, etc. QBs are measured against Brady, Montana, Marino, Unitas, etc. RBs are measured against Walter Payton, Jim Brown, Barry Sanders, etc. And coaches are measured against Vince Lombardi, Bill Belichick, Bill Walsh, etc.

Reid is a good coach but he's no Lombardi or Belichick.

That way we'll have 12 people in the HOF.

    Rivers is actually terrible
it's easy to rack up stats when your team stinks and you're losing regularly because the other team is up by so much they ALLOW you to run up and down the field.
I mean he won a division title at 8-8 are you kidding me!
He had talent around him he just didn't make them better unlike say the guy that we all hope is back to 100% and effective come the fall.

The sad truth is that he'll eventually get into the HOF undeserved. It'll be because Ben and Eli are already in so he'll get in to make the entire 2004 class in enshrined.

That's going a bit far. He certainly isn't an elite QB but he isn't terrible. Does he belong in the HOF? No.

Agreed - it's the Hall of Fame, not the NFL equivalent of Mount Rushmore

Difference is that Rivers is only 123-101 in his career and he has make the playoffs only twice since 2010.Andy Reid has won many game with several different QB and he has make the AFC or NFC title game 7 times in his career vs only one time for Rivers.
