Someone tell Matt CANADA that we play 4 downs in the NFL.
If our QB's suck, time to blame Canada?
The Steelers went years on end without a quarterback coach because Ben was there. The Ben crutch held up a broken offensive foundation. We’ve seen first hand what it looks like when he’s not there.
With Ben returning with double duty as QB and OC, (Randy is a non-coach) and Canada at QB coach, the offense shouldn’t be complete trash again in 2020. I like this.
OK, he has coached QB's for several years in a few different stops and had a solid year at PITT as OC and QB coach. At least somebody dedicated in the position that has experience.
Now if they can just find a ST coach. "you are either improving or getting worse" Steelers special teams isnt improving from what I saw last season.
Has to be better than what they had.
I'm sure they also need someone to tell Fitch his gameplans suck too
Why Matt Canada? Was Ron Mexico unavailable?
Good. Step in the right direction.
Real interesting article on Canada. I forgot he was the interim HC at Maryland. He damn near beat OSU in 2018, which is ok by me.

Is it to soon to promote him to OC ?
Excerpt from paywalled Mark Kaboly article in The Athletic
This past year, Canada (even though he passed on a couple of offensive coordinator positions) was not coaching but was a consultant for a handful of NFL teams.
Canada’s concepts have found their way into the NFL with the Chiefs, Bears, Rams and Seahawks. You would have to believe the Steelers offered him more than a chance to work with Rudolph and Hodges to get him back on the football field....
The question will be how much Canada’s influence will be injected into the Steelers’ offense, especially with Roethlisberger coming back. Roethlisberger enjoyed his best season in Fichtner’s first year as coordinator as he threw for a career-high 5,000-plus yards.
Roethlisberger hasn’t always been open to change.

This move puzzles me; don't you need quarterbacks in order to coach quarterbacks?
Maybe the writing is on the wall for Fitchner? Once Ben is gone we have our new OC?
Thanks for the link - I had forgotten that when Canada left Pitt to be OC at LSU in 2017 that cratered quickly with Ed Orgeron firing him after one season - that seemed to work out OK for LSU
QB coach after being OC elsewhere and just doing consulting work in 2019 may be something of a rehab job for Canada since he has a lot of short tenures with a rep of being “difficult” to work with - given that Coach Todd also had that rep bringing in Canada may indicate the extent of the concern with the offense and the possibility of Canada being put in his place quickly by Ben
Additionally, James conner ran his offense at pitt
